Fun fact: Super Space Sailor himself is almost always referred to with he/him within the Halverse (the universe in which the story is a giant franchise/fiction) on account of the most modern story within the universe being set in 1994. However, within Sailor's own universe/canon/whatever and in real life, he uses he/they. On account of the story being vaguely set in the 1960s/1970s and his own planet being very monolithic, he only refers to himself as a boy. Even in modern times, he would decline any terms like demiboy because he feels more comfortable just referring to himself as a boy.
In the Halverse, the creator (currently unnamed) of Sailor and the entire story is definitely aware they use he/they. The creator just uses he/him for the sake of appeasing the marketing teams/higher-ups. That said, there are clues sprinkled throughout, such as aliens from other planets with different understandings of gender using they/them for Sailor upon first meeting. Sailor shows no discomfort with the term.
When society in the Halverse becomes more understanding, the creator opens up about Sailor's pronouns.
The creator is also a trans woman, but does not realise it during the events of the stories. Therefore, until, like, the 2000s or whatever, she goes by he/him. Sailor's pronouns definitely had her thinking about her own gender and led to her realising she's trans.
