Rereading and Theorizing SSSS(Ep 4)
Things i noticed, though some people might have noticed them earlier. By the way, this is the new name of the series from now on. Yes, theorizing includes analyses.
The demon dog on page 320 could be foreshadowing Reynirs fylgias appearance in this chapter. The dog also has a heart shaped collar, and Kitty's fur at the top of her head is a heart shape, so he could be foreshadowing her too. But why would the dog appear like that instead of as Dog, and why would Reynir wake here?
I think that this is supposed to be a metaphor for your previous knowledge or skills has died, and a new one comes in. A bit confusing, but think of it as this: you have had many negative experiences, but that one bit of positivity wakes up a sense of rebirth- the rebirth of your trust.
OR that dog is a sort of guardian or leader of mages. Like how the Ferryman leads you down the underworld when you pass, the dog is supposed to lead Reynir to his dreamspace, which in this case, scares him to run towards.
OR that dog was supposed to represent the oncoming hardship that the gang'll face (the dead mother cat and the dog beast).
2. The dead cat didn't weaken him, because if she did, Emil would have broken down when the dog beast willingly came to him so he can finish him off (though being weakened by death and reacting by grieving is totally normal, Emil doesn't because: either he knows he has a mission to do, or due to his unknown past (some bits and pieces known and played around with by fic writers to make a believable backstory, but not officially confirmed) knows that no matter how long the grieving process is, time and life repays with cruelty and continues without you). Though Emil is evidently upset, he finishes the job anyway and promises it that he'll be back. (Our boy has grown!)
3. I feel that Lalli was going to tell him that he made the right choice to not let a death stunt him and his duties on the mission (maybe told him that he also dealt with death face on and behind his back if they didn't have the language barrier.) Plus Mikkel is waiting at the tank.
Either he was waiting for them to get in (keeping an eye on them just in case they get jumped) or was going to comfort Emil, because during Tuuri's bite, he tried to keep everyone's heads intact, so it would make sense if he was going to tell Emil the same thing.
4. If i was her height and stronger than her, i would smack her silly because i thought she really really really didn't give a shit (though she doesn't understand Finnish) or didn't get the note that Tuuri was yelling because she's dense, but then i thought again and became appreciative that she was laid back (not negligent, laid back- massive difference). Its refreshing honestly, her natural state is relaxed during setbacks (unless pushed to her limit, which she reaches) and not verbally calling Lalli a failure or yelling at him some more and was willing to dig away at the snow drift (because i know a *lot* of people who have dealt with bosses that are immature and sees setbacks as a legitimate unbeatable thing when its just an opportunity- a test to see if they can get over said thing- and those bosses aren't strict, but straight up verbally abusive.)
5. His expression resonates pride in what he's done- seeing his hard work paying off (like cooking a meal and finding out your friends or family or you yourself love it so much, or after a general cleaning), but, knowing his ego in the working area, i know for a fact that he was saying "Fuck you said? Repeat that?" in his head.
6. You checking downstairs if anyone's awake to quietly make yourself some food at midnight.
hope you guys are okay this morning/ evening/ night. (virtual hug for everyone!)
