oh, absolutely. and new techniques would be used constantly/new rules made.
main character has a ~*super special*~ technique passed down by his family that is probably op-pls-nerf levels of strong but he is not very good yet so no one understands his potential save for his club sponsor whom is for some reason very versed in ancient thumb-wrestling lore
and a thumbs up is like the ultimate sign of respect/camaraderie....every time mc is on the verge of losing one of his friends will give him one and!!! suddenly he has the strength to beat his rival!!! friendship rules
