St Ali feature for Broadsheet
New at St. ALi Jakarta
St. ALi just released its new set of menu, with lots of healthy options to choose from. Have a look!
Easter Sunday and Mornington Peninsula
Rented a car for a day trip down the coast with EB, CC, IN and YX. Revisited St. Ali as it was just a couple of streets down from the car rental place.
omega love <3
I know of people who hate smoked salmon, too fishy and salty and all and normally, I kind of agree. I mean, I love salmon of any kind but the smoked variety do tend to be over-salted. Not the one from St. Ali. It was just right and it was so so yummy. The potatoes were amazing but there was way too little carbs in the dish. The flavours melded together really well and you'd feel so healthy but it's just not quite filling. A piece of toast would make this dish just right, me thinks.
Day trip was awesome and tiring, even though I wasn't the one driving. Got to hike a bit, see an awesome sunset over the ocean and generally any excuse to get out of the city is great. If only I could just get the voice at the back of my head telling me to get back to lab to just shut up.

YX has been going on about St Ali for months and we agreed to go after her last exam. It's been awhile since I've been to South Melbourne or St Ali. I'm not going to lie, the pang in my gut is still there, uggh, memories. But I think I managed to hide it quite well. I have to keep reminding myself that certain things you do really does not need to have a point other than being a good story to tell in the years to come.
A visit to South Melbourne, St Ali.
12-18 Yarra Pl, South Melbourne.
St Ali captures the South Melbourne vibe and marks another Melbourne hot spot for a quick coffee hit or a relaxing weekend catch up after a decent Friday or Saturday night.
The share tables are filled with parties of up to many - but in no way does it feel crammed - making for a very cosy atmosphere.
De-core is funky, I’m thinking of the burgundy metal bikini hanging from the main wall up high for all to see, along with other bits and pieces you that you can see for yourself when you visit. In my opinion, St Ali has the creativity to make any interior decorative idea work.
As for the coffee and food - which I was EXTREMELY excited about - I was very satisfied and full. So much so that I forgot to take a picture of the menu for this post and the name of what I ordered, so apologies there. However, I do remember I was fairly impressed with the option of creating your own breakfast feast as I was quite fussy that morning.
A very reasonably priced menu topped off with a smooth, strong coffee and delightful staff, I will definitely be visiting again.
Thanks St Ali
