Happy St. Cichol’s!!!!!!!!
OKAY SO- I've been figuring out the Adrestian Empire's holidays.
Starting with Adrestian Empire Founding Day!! Date: 1st Great Tree Moon (April) The traditional celebrations of the founding day are very large celebrations with parades, big feasts and heavy consumption. The nobles celebrate the most heavily and the celebrations last for several days. They congregate in Enbarr Palace and attend a massive parade followed by a feast. They celebrate with copious amounts of food, drinking and Other Substances. The commoners have a mixed reception. The people who respect and love Adrestia tend to travel down to Enbarr (if they can afford it) and attend the parades and spend the day celebrating with feasts and drinking. Those who don't respect and love Adrestia spend the day with their families, marking it as a day of hope for the day that Adrestia fundamentally changes and stops treating the commoners of their country like dirt.
St Macuil Day
Date: 21st Harpstring Moon (May) The traditional celebrations of St Macuil Day are big magic displays from mages and dancing. The nobles celebrate by gathering together the best mages within the country within Enbarr Palace and having them create big magic displays for the emperor and their family. There's a large firework display around Enbarr Palace followed by a masked dancing in the ballroom. The commoners celebrate by gathering around in markets and having firework displays. Mages show off their magic and children are highly encouraged to learn spells to show off at the festival.
St Cethleann Day Date: 12th Blue Sea Moon (July) The traditional celebrations of St Cethleann Day are fishing and feasts and celebrating relationships and love (essentially Valentine's Day) The nobles generally gather in Aegir territory. They have feasts which are generally fish dishes. They share flower garlands with their partners and future partners. The nobles also decorate their boats with flower decorations which gets very competitive. They go down to the beach for most of the morning/afternoon and then head back to Aegir Manor for the feast before everyone goes their separate ways with their partners or to celebrate elsewhere. The commoners celebrate within their towns/villages. Those who can access the beach decorate their fishing boats with flowers that St Cethleann was rumoured to have loved. Those who have no access to the beach decorate their town/village in flowers. The have community meals together which are primarily sea-food. They also share flower garlands with their spouses.
St Cichol Day Date: 27th Ethereal Moon (December) The traditional festivities of St Cichol Day are fasting for the month prior to the 27th of the Ethereal Moon. They start fasting at dawn and break fast at dusk. The 27th marks the end of the fasting period where there is a large feast and sharing of gifts. The nobles rarely actually fast and focus more on the aspects of St Cichol's rumoured miracle working. A few houses do fast. Varley, Hrym, Nuvelle, Gerth, Arundel and Vestra fast but the other houses dont. The commoners consistently fast up until the 27th where they break fast as a community and share gifts with each other.
St Seiros Day Date: 11th Guardian Moon (January) The traditional festivities consist of heavy amounts of prayer and decorating bodies of water with flowers. They hang flowers and leave candles outside their doors for protection from St Seiros. The nobles create large flower displays and put up sculptures of St Seiros and participate in a long mass for her. The commoners decorate their towns and villages with patters and sculptures. They create flowers displays in their lakes and around their houses and in the centre of their towns/villages. At night they cover the village with candles as a symbol of asking for protection from St Seiros.
St Indech Day Date: 2nd Pegasus Moon (February) The traditional festivities involve big feasts in the centre of town, tournament fighting about the warriors and it is marked as a day of giving and helping those worse off. The nobles celebrate by staging fighting performances, especially around the capital and towards the south of the country. All the fighting is heavily staged and very opera-like. Spells are mimicked with glitter and confetti. Towards the north, there is tournament fighting where warriors come together to compete to see who is the strongest and these tournaments are held for the entertainment of the nobility. The commoners congregate in the centre of town/the village around a fire and they all bring dishes and they all eat together and share their meals. Lots of commoners help out the poorer members of their towns/village. Goods are acquired through trading/bartering rather than through gold.
HUGE thank you to my wonderful, amazing, incredible friends who helped me out with ideas for this and helped me develop my ideas, you're all wonderful. @vestracore @faerghusfucker @battry-acid @diminand @en-busca-de-mi-ikigai-blog
Hey Three Hopes, peeps! Did we ever find out who tf Saint Luca was from the Tome of Comely Saints?
I know we all had a good guffaw at "Macuil's beauty and gettin' freaky with the humans may have spurred on a renaissance of women artists and writers in Fodlan" and the classic "St. Cichol was so hot and everyone wanted him, but he only had eyes for his wife" and it is this author's opinion that the rumors of him having countless lovers may have just stemmed from the two of them sneaking off together regularly and often, if you know what I mean; but then we got this mention of a "St. Luca" who not only had enormous amounts of children of ambiguous heritage, but it was hinted completely out of nowhere that he may have been using some sort of disguise magic for most if not the entire time - possibly disguise magic that might work suspiciously close to the Agarthans disguises and it's never brought up again.
Nintendo, Intsys, you planning on clearing this up in DLC or what?!
