Glasgow’s latest Mural

The mural is just off London Road on Abercromby Street.
Just by coincidence I was reading up on the subject matter yesterday.
The story goes that Princess Theneu, the daughter of the King of Lothian, became pregnant before her marriage. She brought shame over the whole kingdom. Versions vary, one of them goes as far as to say Theneu was raped by a Welsh prince, Owain mab Urien.
Anyway her family, ashamed by the pregancy, threw her from a cliff but she survived the fall unharmed. Fate had a different plan. Princess Theneu knew she had no home and her family would chase her.
She found an unmanned little boat on the Firth of Forth but she was not a sailor. So the boat drifted across the Forth to Culross where she was rescued by some local monks.
Saint Serf was taking care of Princess Theneu and he became foster-father of her son. Her son grew up in Culross and became later known as Saint Kentigern or Mungo.
The Princess herself is a venerated saint and over the centuries the name has become corrupted to St Enoch, both mother and son are synonymous with Glasgow’s historic founding.
It's not the first time I have told the story here, nor is it the first mural to honour St Enoch, if you recall I posted this pic last year after I took a wee trip to Glasgow. This one is by the Australian Sam Bates AKA Smug and is on the corner of High Street and George Street
