The IT parallels make me insane
We all know the big influence Stephen King had on stranger things…
Started rereading IT cause it’s been ages I read it, and there’s a scene kind of super similar to s1 with Troy and mike??
It all started because John Garton made a homophobic comment towards Adrian (Troy making fun of Will and being homophobic towards him in s1), then Adrian answered making fun of him and with a little sexual innuendo to ridicule him (Mike pushing him to the ground + el making him pee himself), so John/Troy felt embarrassed and mad at being made fun of, so John went towards him (Troy finding mike after school), Don (his bf) tried to take Adrian away (Dustin trying to make mike not jump), but Adrian/Mike stood firm.
A police appeared and tried to make John just leave them be, he was still mad, Christopher Unwin, who was with him, tried to convince John to just leave (James (Troy’s friend) trying to change his mind about making mike jump).
"Next time I see him he's going to be in serious hurt." is what John said, after having to stop because the police saw him (just like Troy waiting until after school to take revenge).
Next time, well, Adrian died because he got pushed into the canal (just like Mike jumped to the quarry, got “pushed” (forced) by Troy). Christopher, later, cried that they didn’t mean to kill him just scare him. Than him and his friend Stevie Dubay tried to save him when they realize there was real danger. Kinda like troy + friend not really believing Mike was actually gonna jump and (James, at least) not truly wanting to kill him. James trying to make troy change his mind.
“So then you threw him over,” Boutillier said.
“Not me!' Unwin said, looking up. He flicked the hair out of his eyes with one hand and stared at them urgently. 'When I saw they really meant to do it, I tried to pull Steve away, because I knew the guy might get banged up… It was like ten feet to the water…”
It was twenty-three. One of Chief Rademacher's patrolmen had already measured.
“But it was like he was crazy. The two of them kept yelling "Bum's rush! Bum's rush!" and they picked him up. Webby had him under the arms and Steve had him by the seat of the pants, and… and…”
Sounds a lot like what James/Troy’s friend would have said if the police asked for his testimony. Troy yelling a countdown before mike walked off the edge.
When they threw Adrian, IT got him, and that’s what killed him. When they forced mike to jump, El got him, and that’s what saved him. No one knew El or IT was there until they appeared.
Don says that “the clown” was Derry (“I saw its eyes, and all at once I understood who it was.” / “Who was it, Don?” Harold Gardener asked softly. / “It was Derry,”. Don Hagarty said. “It was this town.”). Smth smth “Even small towns have their teeth.” / “The Hawkins monster.” / “What?” / “You see it too, don't you? The way this place can be. The way it eats people up. That's why the camouflage is so important because it's always lurking in the shadows, waiting to snap its jaws.” / “The way you talk about it sounds like a literal monster.” / “Sometimes it feels like it is.” and “You know how people say Hawkins is cursed? They're not way off.”
Also Georgie losing his left arm, this theory of Will losing his left hand.
