Finally watching Star Trek Prodigy, and it’s completely won me over. I just saw Gwyn literally talk Zero out of being a Borg. Just…convinced her to not.
Maybe Crusher should have tried that.

I just wish I had characters like Rok-Tahk on TV when I was a chubby kid as tall as kids two years older than me. She’s so cute and she’s so sweet and she’s so lovable and she’s so BIG. And it’s OKAY. It doesn’t change how gentle and endearing she is or how the others see her, or Gwyn’s protective instinct towards her as a younger girl.
And now the show is gone and I guess big girls today won’t see that either. 😑

My predictable take on the first episode of Star Trek: Prodigy
We had better see more of this little girl, and ABSOLUTELY NO LONG TERM HARM MUST EVER BEFALL HER, EVER.
Had a rough week so I sat down to watch a comfort show (Shield of Tomorrow) and it just struck me how this group of nerds loved Star Trek so hard they basically forced themselves into Beta canon, and then one of them (Bonnie) continued to nerd so hard she’s now in Alpha canon. It’s beautiful. Never stop loving the things you love.
I mean, I think it’s a bad move for Star Trek to chase nostalgia and make Legacy, but it’s worth noting that nostalgia has been a part of the franchise since 1979 when The Motion Picture debuted. Like, I don’t think it’s a bad thing for old characters to show up again, or for Trek to explore its past. I guess I draw the line at “WE’RE GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!” impulse to have the TNG cast relive the glory days decades later.
i acknowledge that’s not a clear or firm line, but still.
So I finally got to watching Star Trek Prodigy, (Bought the DVDs. Yay, physical media.) and I just wish they hadn’t decided to hang every anti-fat stereotype on the Tellarite character, Jakrom Pog.
