Various small redesigns / me figuring out how to draw characters…

Phantom stranger

- not gonna lie I just really wanted to give him some more gold on his design, as well as some brighter aspects to clash with his darker suit

- his hair is a bit more like fire, with it floating a bit and pieces breaking off and fading too

- the spots under his eyes act like a sort of bioluminescence! Put under shadow they glow and give him resemblance to spiders with it looking like he has 8 eyes.

Kent Nelson

- I wanted to give him some sun damage on his skin, the worst is on his arms but there’s a bit on his face too.

- also due to prolonged use of the helmet, his eye shifted colour to yellow

- he has meat on his bones now bc i said so.

- his outfit resembles a little bit more of a classic adventurer’s outfit and is darker and more desaturated compared to Khalid

Khalid Nassour

- in contrast Khalid has lighter accents + brighter

- additionally I wanted to add gloves to his design to reflect him being a doctor and let him have baggier clothing that doesn’t exactly let you see his build. That and layers

- similar to Kent his eyes are slightly changed to gold, though the effects are less so.

Jay Nakamura

- wanted to keep his glasses. Bc I miss them

- more elements that are rounded + gave him a lot more parts of clothing that flow off him. Meant to be a lot looser compared to Jon’s tight suit.

Vic Sage

- mostly just wanted to mess around here and didn’t stray too far. However I have his coat some rips here and there + signs of repair

- also warm colours hidden under colder colours, and darker but warm gloves

Cap/Billy and Dr. Fate/Kent Nelson having a close relationship that no one else on the JL(except for magic users) knows about.

They confide in one another their anxieties on keeping balance in the world of magic. Their fears of what may come if they don’t do their jobs right. Kent was a strong comfort to Billy, especially because he never second guessed the boy. He was chosen for a reason, and he wasn’t one to question what magic itself wants from its champion.

Maybe Fate was one of the first magic users to look past his age and trust that he was chosen to protect them for a reason. Maybe Billy was one of the rare people who looked past Nabu’s cold and serious exterior and see the fear and protectiveness underneath.

Idk I just like thinking up their relationship in particular because it’s one not many heroes would expect. Doctor Fate and Captain Marvel are so different from one another, tied together only because of their responsibilities.

But then people see the two of them talking to each other in hushed whispers. When one of them needs help, they always subtly look to the other. When another magic user needs an okay from the champion and a lord of order for a risky spell, they always find them together.

I also like to think that Doctor Fate was extensively offended when Cap’s identity was revealed and there were heroes talking about a probation period/kicking him out. I thought up a small convo.

Superman: I think this course of action would benefit us all.

Other leaguers: *nodding, in varied stages of denial, betrayal, sadness, confusion*

Zatanna: *looking at Billy, waiting for SOMETHING*

Captain Marvel: *looks away, gives Superman a quick, small nod*

Superman: *notices Doctor Fate hasn’t said anything.* Doctor?

Fate: *Not looking anywhere but at Billy* That’s it?

CM: …

Fate: You’re not going to say anything?

CM: A probation period makes logical sense.

Fate: There is nothing logical about this!

Zatanna: *a whispered hiss* Doctor! The champion’s decided!

Fate: No, he hasn’t. This——This is ridicule! Blasphemy of the highest order.

CM: Can we not do this right now?

Superman: Doctor, please, calm yourself——

Fate: *still only looking at Billy*

CM: *knows exactly what Fate is thinking of doing* Please.

Fate: *was going to threaten to leave the JL, but he knows Cap would blame himself* I relent.

That’s just one small scene that’s been in the back of my head for a while(as in, the first time I watched S1E22 of Young Justice)

Anyway, I just have a neat time brainstorming Cap and Fate’s potential relationship and how they would be perceived by others.
