“beg?” offense immediately creases her features, how could he ever think she'd want him to beg. what kind of person does he take her for? the look on her face expressing that without needing to say it out loud. “i don't want you to beg, stefan. i just want you to stop doing this. acting like this. when it doesn't have to be this way. the fact i even have to say this...” the part where she has to defend herself that she's not trying to make him do something cruel as beg, “makes me wonder even more what's gotten into you?”

“better? how can it get any better than this, stefan. but let’s not pretend you’d recognize me even if i was with all of that you hate me for good nonsense. still… it’s sweet you hope, but that’s always been your problem.” and ironically the thing she loves most about him but making him feel bad for it is her only strength to survive still loving him when he clearly doesn't nor will ever feel the same.

“hmm, i disagree! there's no such thing as too many candles. we have to make this extra spooky, as spooky as we possibly can get. it's almost halloween, after all.” elena responds in a chipper tone, grinning enthusiastically as she places one more candle in the window of the gilbert home while draping some faux spider web decor around it. got to add that extra spooky flair. “we'll be sure to get a lot of trick or treaters this way and have the coolest halloween party on the block.”

Nora’s forehead wrinkled, her brows pulling together in thought as her eyes roamed over him like she was trying to peel away the years and drag him back into some old memory. Maybe she could’ve been wrong, centuries had a way of blurring together but faces? Faces she never forgotten before.

She gave a small shake of her head, lips pursing as if she were tasting the doubt on her own tongue. “No, we’ve totally met before, dude.” The way she said it was casual, but there was an undercurrent of conviction there, a steady weight that refused to let him slip away behind his polite confusion.

Her eyes narrowed slightly, studying him, hunting for a name as if she could pluck it straight out of the air between them. “Damon…” she started, then frowned and quickly shook her head. “No. Not Damon. You’re the younger brother. Stefan, right?”
