What if Jotun children imprint and thats how Odin ended up with Loki? Laufey never actually saw his son (his mother did) and Odin knew he’d have to take the child with him (some tradition or something, blah blah, mother has baby alone for x days/months/years). So when Loki finds a Jotun baby (how, I have no idea), he knows he has a choice to make- take the child has his own (and not just in the pass-it-off-to-someone-else-as-soon-as-possible way) or let it die.
oh man oh man I like this idea, especially given that we know little to nothing about Jotun custom and it’s also totally possible that Laufey especially would not be involved in his childrens’ lives (even if that was usual, and especially given Loki’s unusual smallness). so then Odin picks Loki up and Loki is still young enough to form a bond with him.
and that - and also the strangeness associated with the circumstances - have something to do with why Loki is so specifically desperate for Odin’s approval, because what if that link is usually double-sided - but because Odin is Aesir, not Jotun, it only goes one way. so Loki is looking for the return of something without even knowing that that’s what he’s looking for.
and oh boy, the idea of Loki having to confront his ancestry through a vulnerable kid - and also just Loki with children - is a great idea. he doesn’t want this, he should just walk away, who cares about one more Jotun runt left to die.
but he doesn’t.
and definitely ends up asking his elderly neighbor all kinds of “strictly hypothetical” questions about how to take care of babies, and eventually she’s like “okay so where’s the baby” and he has to show her, expecting revulsion or disgust but she’s just like “oh, you didn’t tell me she was a mutant, she’s lovely, no wonder you were so secretive but you don’t have to worry about me”
Loki carrying tiny Jotun baby around in one of those chest harness things because she’s restless and sleeps better when she’s being walked around

You too?
Oh, glad I’m not the only one. I’ve been feeling like such a contrarian lately. Mostly getting annoyed at the self-righteous Uber-Far Leftists on Facebook (occupational hazard of being in academia). Get off your fucking high horse and let me like Meryl Streep and think the prostitutes peeing thing is funny.

I am not, either. I read the news yesterday (and my car tried to strand me and I was having issues from PMS, so....) I am so glad my best friend is coming over today. I need all the snuggles I can get.
ugh, stacked bad stuff is the worst. when one thing goes wrong and then everything else starts to feel like it’s falling apart too...
I’m glad you’re going to get some snuggles today, though. those are important.

I wish beyond general protest and so on in Australia, I could like...give you a blanket fort and puppers and some seals. I don't know how anyone is going to deal with 4 years of this. *offers hugs*
kindness from internet people means a whole heckuva lot, tbh. I think a big thing for me is going to be making sure I have a solid support network when I just need to hunker down and take a breather for myself.
but dang, a blanket fort full of puppers and seals sounds so ideal right now.
I have been reading through the comic and it is an utter delight. But might I ask where page 42 has gone? I am getting an error when I try to link to it either from page 41 or page 43. Thank you.
Hello there!
You know who else an utter delight?! No? Well, YOU! Thank you for the support, for reading and the hearts, and really, this goes to all of you reading this comic, cheers to those that were there in the first page, to the ones that have joined us in the past 2 years! Wow, 2 years!
Now. I almost panicked. I checked if the page was missing, but no, there it is. I fixed it, I checked every page to test the link and it’s working, please, check it too and let me know if is working or not for you, yeah?
Again. Thank you, have happy holidays.
