ref sheet i made for a friend some time ago #mollysweep
This picture of my dog cracks me up every time because what are you even trying to accomplish, buddy???
Hi! Hope this isn't a bother but if you still do dæmon analysis, would you be down to describe what someone with a Stabyhoun dæmon might be like?
I've recently gotten into His Darkest Materials and I've been trying to feel out a dæmon for myself and find one that feels right (I did the quiz you made btw and got a Pichiciego but feel unsure about it just because it doesn't feel like it fits with my work ethic and comes from a part of the world where, if I had one, would struggle in my home country).
If you still do full analysis for individuals, I could definitely take some personality tests and send in the results but I didn't want to overwhelm you or ask too much of you off the jump, especially if you don't do this stuff anymore.
Anyway, thank you in advance if you do do this, but don't feel pressured and I totally understand if you aren't feeling up to it/don't do these anymore!
of course anon! :) sometimes it takes me a bit to respond to the full analysis requests because i tend to do deep dives, but i have one that i'll be posting soon so feel free to send in a request as long as you don't mind waiting!
i love doing domestic dog overviews! the stabyhoun i've touched on before as a great domestic dog form for an introvert, particularly an INFJ. they're from an area of the northern netherlands called friesland, which is also the origin of the friesian horse. stabyhouns were developed as livestock and hunting dogs in this predominantly agricultural area for farmers who generally could not afford multiple farm dogs. they were thus bred to be both a friendly family dog as well as a general purpose "jack of all trades" working dog. friesland's abundant lakes and waterways makes them excellent swimmers as well. their popularity outside of the netherlands has been steadily increasing, but the stabyhoun remains a very rare breed. contemporary breeding is highly regulated and the purity of the breed relies on devoted groups of breeders. they have often been crossbred with other dutch breeds to make them more robust hunters.
when looking at domestic dog breeds, i like to use a funnel system, starting at the top with domestic dog traits. domestic dog individuals are empathetic, expressive, and loyal people are their core. they are relationship-oriented individuals who are security-seeking in that they deeply value their close connections and the people in their lives. moreover, they're supportive friends who have keen emotional awareness; they're good at picking up on cues, knowing what others need, and can read the temperature of a room. typically these individuals are open-minded and flexible so long as they feel secure. they are good at taking things as they come, but like other domestic species, they have a preference for stability and predictability. this makes them good at finding patterns, even subconsciously, and they value honest communication as they can be anxious in uncertainty. the domestic dog soul wears their own heart on their sleeve, though they can certainly be capable of manipulation to endear themselves to others or get what they want.
the stabyhoun is a versatile breed but does fit in nicely with other sporting dogs: the retrievers, the pointers, the setters, the spaniels. these breeds are these dogs are hunters: energetic, focused, and perceptive. they're highly trainable and good-natured, hence why goldens and labradors are such popular family pets! sporting dogs tend to be intelligent but eager to please, while also breeds that revel in physical activity and mental stimulation. among domestic dog breeds, these are going to be your people who are simultaneously friendly and easygoing, while also quite intense and focused. they have a strong work ethic and are driven; they can be prone to perfectionism and anxiety when they don't feel accomplished or have let others down. they are clever and inventive, sometimes to the own detriment as they tend to over-think, but they love exploring rabbit holes (pun intended) and don't give up easily. a sporting dog soul sees things through and is not easily intimidated by challenges or people.
within the sporting dog category, the stabyhoun is a more introverted and reserved person, though still quite friendly and warm by reputation. it may take a bit for a stabyhoun soul to consider someone a friend, but to those who have earned their trust, they are considerate, supportive, and protective. like other sporting dogs, they are driven and quietly passionate, even stubborn people who are not readily talked out of something they've put their mind to. they're versatile; this person is hard-working and a go-getter who is quite confident and tries new things. often they get engaged in their own world when they've found something that excites them, can absolutely be described as focused to the point of tunnel-vision. dutiful and inventive, but also can be quite sensitive, especially when it comes to things such as social criticism and rejection. patient and gentle, really very empathetic and thoughtful people who would prefer to be passive over confrontational. values doing a good job and may be hard on themselves. less expressive and excitable than other breeds, but tend to be loyal and introspective people who are highly communicative when something doesn't feel right to them.
hope this helped! :)
hey hey who was the other stabyhoun blog again? i remember there was another person with stabyhouns on here <3
