Oprah Believes in Stacey Abrams for Georgia Governor
Showing support for Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, Oprah Winfrey addressed a room of about 400 people on Thursday, November 1, in the first of two “town hall conversations” stumping for the Georgia democrat.
"Georgia, you've been on my mind," Winfrey said.
Winfrey, who is a registered independent, told the crowd, "I want to tell you...no one paid for me to come here. No one asked me to come here.”
She went on to encourage black and female voters to vote, saying, “For anybody here who has an ancestor who didn’t have the right to vote... you are dishonoring your family. You are disrespecting and disregarding their legacy, their suffering, and their dreams when you don’t vote.”
