"Happy birthday Aika!!!!" He shouts from the top of his lungs and pulls out a star shaped plush toy with cute happy face and a heart shape stitched on its left side. "Kiryuu helped me clean it up and stitch the heart. I hope you like Red! He's been through a lot with me~ Let's go out for sushi tonight!"
Ah?! Chiaki’s loud voice had startled her, although she thought she should have been used to his sudden entrances and booming voice by now. But she wasn’t expecting him to remember her birthday. The brunette was so happy now, and she gave him a warm smile as he handed her something. And a gift?! This was the best birthday EVER!
“Aww...he’s adorable! I love him! Thank you so much!” She took the plushie, looking it over and squeezing it tight. She would keep Red nice and safe. He could be best friends with Neo-chan. And then she went straight in for a hug to her favorite superhero. Aika was blushing...but when wasn’t she anymore? “I would love that! It’s my favorite food! Is after school today okay? Mazu-kun said we wouldn’t have practice because it’s my birthday~!”
4: I don’t mind if we sleep in the same bed tonight. [[ a fellow vanilla extract :') ]]
These nights had started to become more frequent, but she didn’t mind. They would be out late walking around town, and eventually it would get a little too late for her to be walking by herself…well by her sister’s standards. She didn’t mind though, the dark freaked her out anyway.
She had made plans to stay over that night at his house, and while she usually just slept on the couch or he would offer to let her sleep in his bed instead, she usually just told him no. It was his bed after all, and she didn’t mind sleeping on the couch since she slept all curled up.
She was getting tired, and usually this would be when she waddled back to the couch. But…it was different this time. The single sentence was enough to make her face turn the familiar bright shade of red she usually wore when something new came up…like this thing right now. “Really? You…wouldn’t mind?”
She would bet that he was really comfy…and warm. And while the thought crossed her mind, she never brought it up, for obvious reasons. But if he was offering…she couldn’t just say no. He smiled at her, laughing a little. “Only if you want to of course!”
“I’d like that a lot, yeah.” The soft smile on her face was only getting wider as she crawled into bed, laying there next to him. It was this weird surreal feeling, but one she liked. Closing her eyes, she could feel the heat radiating off him. He really was a portable space heater. She’d remember that for winter.
It was getting late…really late, and BlackJack had just finished tearing down after their most recent live. It went so well and she was absolutely exhausted. Violet and Mazumi were already on their way out with the two seniors from Akatsuki. They had gotten really close with Keito and Kuro, and she wanted them both to be happy. They had asked her if she needed anything before they left for the night, and she of course said no. All she wanted was the longest nap in history. “We’ll see you at home, Aika-chan.”
Waving goodbye for now, she looked around for her things. She yawned, stretching and after she had gotten out of the live clothes and into those comfy practice hoodies and pants…she felt much better. Aika was still tired but at least she was comfy! It wasn’t too long after her older sister and Mazumi left that she saw Chiaki approaching her. Waving a bit sleepily, she smiled. “I didn’t know you were still here.”
He gave her that bright and sunny smile and a tight hug to go along with it. She squeezed back, already feeling revitalized. He just had this way of giving energy wherever he went, like a portable sun. “You performed so well! I’m sure you left the audience speechless!”
She blushed, rocking on her heels a bit before making eye contact again. His eyes just sparkled with excitement and happiness, and it just made her night so much better. “Thank you! We tried really hard, and I’m not sure if I could do that again for a while. I’m tired…”
“A hero’s duty is to help those in need! Let me walk you home.”
Her fingers were soon laced with his, making their way off school grounds and toward where she lived. They took a few detours, naturally, because she didn’t really want to part ways with him so soon. And she thought that he felt the same way. They talked almost endlessly about anything and everything, and it was a reason she never wanted to leave. He always had so much to say, and she loved it. Eventually the walking was starting to get to be too much, and she yawned again.
“Aika-chan, do you want to stay over? There’s this new tokusatsu show on tomorrow morning and I think you’d really like it! What do you say?!” Those eyes…she just couldn’t get over how eager and excited he was. She was stunned, more so than usual. Squeezing his hand a little, she nodded.
“I’d really like that! I’m sure Vivi-chan and Mazu-kun would like the house to themselves anyway. Thank you~.” She couldn’t help but shove down the excited giggles. This was going to be awesome. “You’re the best, Superhero.”
☂ = giving them their jumper to keep warm
Fall was one of her favorite times of the year for a lot of reasons. There was the seasonal drinks, the changing of the leaves, and of course she got to wear her favorite jackets on the way home. She was sitting outside after school waiting for her sister to get done talking with somebody about something. Violet never gave her much information, just that she’d be back later after taking care of something.
She was humming, drawing in her sketchbook some designs for a stage that Mazumi had suggested as something they could collaborate with Akatsuki on for a joint live. She didn’t have very many details, just ‘something that looked dope’. Sighing, she began sketching the basics.
Even though she had taken one of her jackets with her, she was still a little cold since the wind was picking up a little. Frowning, she shifted positions so her legs were crossed under her and she could put most of her arm weight on the pages so they stopped blowing and messing up her lines.
Surprises were everywhere today, and soon her favorite superhero was sitting next to her, looking at her drawings. Almost instictively, her head leaned over to rest on his shoulder, smiling as her hand continued to create the stage on her paper. “Your nose is all red!”
“Huh?” It took her a minute, but it was probably because she was cold. Her nose always did that, even when it was just a little bit chilly. “Oh! It’s probably because I’ve been outside drawing in the wind and stuff. I’m okay though!”
It wasn’t like that was going to stop Chiaki though. She looked up to see him shifting to take off his jacket, and she blinked a little bit. Yeah but wouldn’t he get cold. “You should wear this! I’m a little too warm anyway, and you look cold.” Well she couldn’t argue with that.
Moving the sketchbook out of the way for a minute, she took it from his hands, slipping it on and my god…it was the warmest thing ever. She wanted to just bury herself in it, and Aika couldn’t help but do just that…only a little. “Aaaahhhh, it’s so warm~. But won’t you get cold?”
She picked up the sketchbook again, snuggling up against his shoulder. “Nope! I’m like a portable heater, so I don’t usually get cold fwuahaha!” His laugh always made her smile, and she was nuzzling into the super warm and comfy jacket, that smelled a lot like him.
“You smell nice by the way…”
♣ = discovering them crying
Aika knew that this day would be coming, but that didn’t mean she was any more prepared for it. Sure…she would still see her sister and ‘brother’ at home…but her school life would be so empty without them. And on top of that…it meant Chiaki was leaving too. And she wasn’t prepared for any of this to happen so fast.
Graduation ceremony was drawing closer and closer, and with the days that passed…it was harder to keep her positive attitude. It wasn’t the end of the world, but losing so many close people at school…it was going to be hard. She had spent more and more of her time on the terrace, drawing landscapes and cityscapes to try and take her mind off the impending ceremony.
It was hard…so hard…and she just couldn’t do it anymore. Aika was on the terrace again, as usual, but she wasn’t drawing this time. She had placed her head on one of the tables, silent tears coming down her face. It was embarrassing, to be crying like this on the terrace but no one else was up here and she couldn’t hold it in anymore. No matter how hard she tried to shove it down…it just kept coming back stronger.
Lifting her face from the table, she wiped her eyes with her jacket sleeve, sniffling and trying to stop the tears but nothing worked. Sounds of footsteps were echoing in her ears, and she had to think of something before somebody found her. But it was all too late for her, because Chiaki was all but bounding across the terrace, probably looking for her.
“Aika-chan…what’s wrong?! Are you hurt?”
She shook her head no, wiping off her face some more. “N-no…well n-not like that. I…I j-just…not ready for graduation…” She tried to hide her face, but apparently Chiaki wasn’t having any of that. He took her hands, holding them and giving her this sympathetic smile.
“Ah…I didn’t think of that!” He paused, looking away for a minute, but turned his attention back to her. She was still blinking tears, and it was making it hard to see. “Don’t worry Aika-chan, I’m not gone forever, just from school! We’ll still get to see each other even though I’m not here! A hero always answers the call!”
She smiled, still sniffling and probably looking awful but he probably didn’t even care. “Th-thank you…s-sorry about th-this…”
“Don’t be sorry! I should have known that this was the reason you’ve been so upset lately. Call for me whenever you need me, okay?!”
She all but jumped up off the chair she was in, tackling him into a hug, hiding her face some more. She nodded, and pretty soon she was all wrapped up in those hugs she’d grown so fond of. He was right, he wasn’t gone forever. She’d still see him. And suddenly, the world wasn’t quite so dim after all.
❤ = kissing them
Chiaki Morisawa had stolen her heart and she never wanted it back.
Aika and Chiaki had been out on the town for a date that day. It was the weekend and neither of their units were involved in any lives coming up, which was the first time in nearly two months. They had been trying to work something out for so long, but things just kept coming up. But finally, after many rescheduled plans, they were here now roaming around downtown.
She was holding his hand, swinging it lightly as she rambled about this cute little craft store that she really liked to go to down here. They had spend the entire afternoon and part of the evening there, and after a few shopping stops, they decided to have dinner somewhere.
It was amazing. The entire day she hadn’t stopped smiling once. It was easy to hang around with him, even if they weren’t doing anything, just his company was enough for her. After one of the best dates she’d had, they were leaving the restaurant and walking toward the bridge just outside the marketplace.
The twilight was covering the market in a beautiful orange glow. The sunlight was bouncing off the water under the small bridge they were on, and she was looking down at the sun’s reflection. Interlocked hands were draped over the railing, and her eyes wandered back to his face.
He looked so radiant in the sunset, and she didn’t even notice how close they were until the distance was growing shorter. It seemed like they both knew what they wanted, but neither of them were making any sort of progress on getting there. Emerald eyes now half closed with her heartbeat nearly drowning in her ears, her anticipation was nearly killing her. Would he do it? Should she do it? What was supposed to...
Her thoughts stalled as the radiant hero closed the final distance with a soft kiss. She held his hand tightly unsure about what to do with the other one. The movements were soft, gentle, almost intoxicating in all the right ways. Aika was returning the soft kiss, heart nearly beating out of her chest. Her face ignited to what she swore was probably as bright as the red on the jacket he gave her a few days ago.
It was quick, but it felt like hours. Her heart rate was racing, and she could barely think straight. He had kissed her...like really kissed her. Gentle fingers from his free hand came to move some of the fluffy brown hair out of her face, and that only made the red worse. She was biting her lip, but she was smiling...and so was he with that ever positive smile that could chase away the night. There didn’t need to be any exchanges of words, just the comforting feeling of standing there in front of him, nuzzling herself into his chest. The perfect superhero...my only superhero...
it was fairly common for Ritsu to take naps wherever he felt necessary. It was after Tea Club that day, she had made him another cup of tea and he had leaned over to lay on her lap. She smiled, her hands instinctively going to run through his soft black hair.
It was soothing to both of them. He liked the feeling of her fingers and she enjoys keeping her hands occupied instead of just having them fiddle with a pencil. She found it made her thoughts stall longer than usual. She didn’t have to think about anything, just let him lay in her lap and play with his hair.
She was humming as she played, watching his eyes drift close as he hummed along with her. Aika loved how peaceful he looked when he was relaxing. Ritsu lazily opened one of his eyes to stare up at her. “Hmm, Ai-chan has that pretty smile on her face. You should smile more~, it suits you.”
A red tint covered her cheeks, but the smile on her face only grew wider. Her fingers tugged playfully and softly on his hair. ‘You’re a beautiful vampire in the soft glow of the sunset.’
“Oh?” Red eyes opened to stare at her just a little more. “Hmm, I’m glad you think so~. But I think Ai-chan would look better sitting in my lap and playing with my hair instead~.” And then the red got deeper. ‘Maybe later.’ He chuckled, closing his eyes again as she continued to tangle her fingers into the messy black locks.
Aika had been standing near the fountain close to end of twilight. Earlier that day, Ritsu had told her to be wearing something nice, to meet him here after the school building closed. She had left, grabbing one of her favorite red dresses that she bought a few weeks ago for a festival.
She didn’t know what sort of thing he was doing or had planned, but she would follow his instructions. All of his words and actions served a purpose, even if she didn’t know what they were right off hand. So here she sat at the fountain, dancing her fingers along the surface of the water.
It wasn’t too long after she sat there that footsteps were coming toward her, and she looked up to see if it was who she was waiting for...and it was. He was dressed in his Knights uniform, and she looked at him perplexed. “Ai-chan is cute when she’s confused~.” He approached her, holding his hand out to her. “Would my Queen like a dance?”
Red in the face and completely taken off guard, she grasped his hand and nodded, but smiled through her embarrassment. He pulled her to her feet, and close to his chest. Her hand held his tightly as his other snaked around her waist, keeping her close. Soon they were moving, slow and graceful.
He would occasionally twirl her around, bringing her back to him to dip her, with that smile she had come to cherish. Aika smiled back at him, losing herself in his graceful movements and those beautiful red eyes. Ritsu pulled her up, and she was soon snuggling against his chest, dancing to the music that played from their souls as the rest of the universe faded for a few moments. “Thank you.”
Violet and Kuro were known to be punks, to not take the shit that people threw at them. But this one in particular...well it was an interesting confrontation. She was on her way to sneak another cigarette before Karate, but she noticed some rather loud noises coming from down the sidewalk.
It piqued her curiosity, and she left to go investigate. And that’s when she found him, just sitting there with a few tears in his clothes and blood on his face. He must have gotten into a fight. And he didn’t call for backup? Hmm, how interesting. “Kiryu...what are you doing?”
Kuro seemed to try and dismiss her, waving her off and standing on his own. She could see him make an attempt to hide the marks on his face, but she knew better. “Come on, stop this hiding bullshit.” Kuro rolled his eyes at her, but she wasn’t having it. Opening her bag, she took out some tissues, and started to wipe the smeared red across his nose and cheek.
“You could have called me, you know.”
“Honor, Amachi.”
“How many were there?”
“A few.”
“Right.”
She continued her work, eyeing him suspiciously. She would have to interrogate him about this later. “Let’s get you back to the dojo, and you can tell me what sort of shit you’re in now.”
Music Drabble - Stab My Back - All American Rejects (w/ @themaskedoddball)
Stab my backIt's better when I bleed for youYou walk on meIt never was enough to do
This was her crown. This was her kingdom. And these were her subjects. She had this kingdom and she would rule it with an iron fist with the ever so loyal magician. He did everything she asked without question, and it only fed her ever growing ego.
She was cruel, heartless, and would do anything to keep her crown. The King went so far as to cut straight for the throat when she found that her sister had been sneaking around with one of the Knights. She had asked her dearest magician to keep tabs on her unit mates while she was away doing business in other parts of the school, and he obeyed her every command. And when she was informed of this little...transgression, she set straight away to eliminate it.
“Do me a favor, and start sabotaging their little meetings for me. I can’t have my Queen disobeying her King.” And every time she asked something from him, he delivered without question. But when talk of a revolution at the hands of Knights reached her ears...she wouldn’t have any of that.
“You’ll be helping me destroy them.”
“Yes, of course My King. Whatever you wish~! I, your very own Wataru Hibiki will grant your every wish!”
Falling fastIt's trueIt hasn't done a lot for you
Smiling at his unending obedience, she set to prepare the destruction of this revolution. But her fate was sealed the moment she dared to stand against the well assembled Knights. She fell, crying out in defeat. It was her shame, her destruction, her crown...she had lost her crown to people like them. And it aggravated her.
She fled, leaving what she had done and her loyal magician alone. She didn’t care what sort of repercussions her actions had, but she needed to get out before they caught her...before they could bring her to justice...
When the sun shines, we'll shine togetherTold you I'd be here forever
Ever since their fated meeting in middle school, Violet had always found Mazumi to be...rather interesting. Kicking around a few bullies that were harassing them was no big deal, but apparently it would change their lives forever. Mazumi stuck around after that, hanging around in places where Violet usually hid from the general public, sneaking cigarettes and the occasional fight.
Over the course of their time together, they grew to be quite close even though Mazumi’s original demeanor was a bit off putting. She found that she wanted to help them, to make them stronger to stand up for themselves for once. It wasn’t the first time she was sent to detention for completely breaking someone’s nose just inside school grounds.
Said I'll always be a friendTook an oath I'ma stick it out 'til the end
They were soon almost inseparable, two very different sides of a coin. Where you found one, you could find the other not too far behind. They were friends, more importantly, best friends. Violet had vowed to help Mazumi deal with the bullies that harassed them for their eyes. And soon enough, people stopped laughing in fear of the Black Dragon’s Wrath.
There was one obstacle, one piece of the puzzle that was Mazumi that Violet couldn’t just punch or threaten away. Their parents...their family...and once she heard how terrible they were treated, she stepped in immediately. At first Mazumi refused, saying they were fine. But it was clear to her that things were very much far from fine. “You know I’m always around if you need me, Mazu-kun. It’s not just a statement, that’s a promise.”
Now that it's raining more than everKnow that we'll still have each otherYou can stand under my umbrella
It took some time and convincing to get Mazumi out of their house, but more and more the punk found her best friend staying over more often, sleeping over and bringing belongings with them. Even though times were getting harder for them, she had promised to never let them slip by. And she would stand next to her comrade, ready to take up arms.
Their first couple years as idols, entering Yumenosaki...they struggled. The war was raging, and they couldn’t see the end. But no matter how hard they had to fight, to stay alive, Violet never relented. She pushed and fought back with everything she had, just to survive. And they succeeded. “I told you, I would never back down. And I meant it.”
