Hadestown and CU is something that should probably not mix, but I did one drawing and was all ‘Yeah, I’ll just draw more out for the heck of it because some things would line up. Also there’d be two versions of Orpheus and Eurydice at the same time.’

How about 'Cashmere' as one of the February prompts? And it can be for anything you want. (I just find that an interesting prompt to use and it'd be interesting for either writing or art).

this stumped me and by the time i abruptly finished this i realized that cashmere was tangential to the actual drabble i have, oops

George stared at the screen for a few moments before doing an angry keysmash onto the keyboard. Welp, that was enough of ramming his head against the wall that was his essay.

It was a little difficult trying to schedule meetups between him and Harold in the free time they had between classes that could line up, but they made do. Today’s meetup was Harold’s choice.

He had only been to the common working room a handful of times (which really was an extra-wide hallway), but the decor was nothing short of genius. Every year the walls would be painted white, and slowly but surely it would be filled out by the art students-- art, prose, memes, social handles to where they could find more of their content, as long as it was within reason it can be put on the wall.

George thought back to their elementary school days-- man, all the teachers would be having a conniption at the concept of a wall where anyone could just draw on it, let alone a whole room’s worth of walls.

He looked up. Harold had just started to put in the colors on his sketch of Dog Man. “So how’d the date go?”

Said Harold perked up at the question. He hopped off the table, only to sit back down on it. He began to tap frantically. “Take a look at this!”

“Uh, that’s just a photo you took of a computer screen.” George couldn’t help but chuckle as the other’s excited nerves made him jump. “You know you could just... open up the site on your phone and just take a screencap of when your stuff is due, right?”

He looked back at the phone in disbelief, then swiped his phone to the right. “Yeah, but that helps me remember better, anyway, look at this!”

And this time it was the right picture-- it was a picture of Harold grinning wide. He had his arm wrapped around a young man who seemed shocked by being suddenly pulled in, but was in similar high spirits. Speckles of a start of a beard was beginning to peek through on the other man’s face, a stark contrast to his neatly combed hair and fancy cashmere sweater.

“Oh, that guy!” George tilted his head. “I had an elective class with him last semester.”

“Yup, he--” Harold did a double-take and grabbed him by the shoulders. “Wait, what do you mean you were in the same class? And you didn’t tell me?!”

“You only showed me a picture of him literally right now!” George replied, his voice warbling as his friend shook him. “Billy’s a common name, how was I supposed to know that your Billy was the same as the Billy from electives?”

Harold let out a laugh, loosening his grip. “Name one other Billy, then!”

George snickered in kind, at a loss for words. He made a circling gesture with his hand. “Anyway, continue.”

And so Harold did, excitedly recounting his date from last night. 

Sure it was difficult to work around their schedules, but moments like this were worth it.

15. Can I lie on your lap?

Another draft balled up and tossed into the trash. Another page scrapped and discarded. Another comic strip which would never meet the readers’ eyes.

Harold chewed on the end of his pencil as he stared at the blank page before him, desperation beginning to sink in. From the corner of his eye he saw the trash can by his desk, now teaming with crumpled paper. He couldn’t recall the last time he had had such a bad case of art block, but this was by far the worst yet.

Running both hands through his blond locks, he sat back and tried his hardest to come up with a good plotline for the next Dog Man comic. He needed to send the publisher a draft for approval by the end of the week, but couldn’t think of anything worthy of drawing. And he was running out of time.

He pressed his hands against his face and groaned audibly, a usual reaction for whenever he was frustrated. He hated that feeling.

“Honey?”

Whipping his head around, the blond saw his husband peering up at him from their bed, clearly still half-asleep. Harold’s eyes widened when he noticed the time on the digital clock by the bed: it was already past midnight.

“Sorry.” He whispered, turning completely around in his seat. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”

“Still nothing?”

“Nada.”

“Then come to bed.” Billy suggested, gently patting the empty spot on his left side. “Sleep depravation won’t do you any good. Plus I’m sure you’ll feel much better in the morning.”

Harold smiled tenderly at Billy’s words. He always knew exactly what to say to make him feel better, even when everything seemed the bleakest. And he was right; a good night’s rest was exactly what he needed.

He quickly changed into his pajamas, and as he climbed onto bed next to his husband, a memory flashed through his mind; a memory of something they used to do back when they were still dating, but hadn’t done in a long time. Something that soothed him more than anything else.

“Can I lie on your lap?” He asked, flashing Billy a sheepish grin, almost embarrassed about asking.

Billy smiled and pulled back the covers, allowing the blond access. Harold tried his best to be as gentle as possible as he settled between his husband’s legs and lied his head on his chest. Billy instinctively buried his fingers into Harold’s hair, slowly caressing his massive curls.

Harold sighed through his nose, closing his eyes as he listened to Billy’s steady heartbeat, which, along with his husband’s fingers in his hair, was beginning to lull him into sleep. He couldn’t remember the last time he felt so relaxed.

“What if we gave Dog Man a sidekick?” Harold suddenly spoke up, his eyes snapping open. “I know it’s cliché, but at least it would move the story forward.”

His question was met with silence, the sound of Billy’s heavy breathing indicating that he had fallen back asleep.

Harold smiled to himself. He should’ve known this would happen; whenever Billy had trouble sleeping, he would always stroke Harold’s hair in order to calm himself. Billy found it soothing, and Harold found it endearing.

Setting his new idea aside, he snuggled closer and closed his eyes again, hoping to join in his husband’s peaceful slumber very soon.

How come there isn't a fan name for GeorgeXLisa and HaroldXBilly ships? I like the name 'Musical Words' for George and Lisa. (since he writes and she plays the viola). I was considering a name for Harold and Billy, but I think someone else would be able to come up with a better ship name than the one I first thought of.
