Toronto-born Stan Harris directed many variety shows for CBC television in the 1950s and 1960s before relocating to the United States.

While in America he directed The Perry Como Show, The Garry Moore Show, The Steve Lawrence Show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and nearly every episode of Midnight Special.

After a long and lucrative Hollywood career, he moved back to Canada to direct Maniac Mansion.
