South Park manages to be progressive without actually doing anything, without going anywhere or seeing any sort of developmental climax. It’s just a mountain town, where everyone knows one another, and when Kyle stumbles out of the bathroom at some bar in Denver, it’s because they don’t give a shit that he’s fresh faced - he’s still got baby fat around the eyes and a fake ID that makes him miss home. Miss Skeeter’s where he isn’t surrounded by a bunch of trashed randoms. Denver is nothing like New York but it still holds it’s own.
He stumbles, breathing out a laugh when he tugs up his zip and heads back to the bar. Even if Cartman isn’t a light weight, he’s glad he couldn’t secure an ID in time to go out with him. They’re in town for college orientation and he’s the one who actually wants to go here. Has had his heart set on it for years now because it has significant importance to him.
He only thinks about it when he drinks.
Kyle orders another beer, his last one for the night and takes a swig for it, swaying with the thick lull of the crowd and autumn feels too far away. He already loves the crisp air and the scent of menthol that mingles with leather and sweat. Already favors the thicket of people and the rambling of his soon to be peers. He feels like he doesn’t fit but he still belongs.
