@earthchunks ⛈🚣♂️Hurricane Relief🚣♂️⛈ UPDATE: SO FAR WE HAVE RAISED OVER $700! Thank you to everyone who has purchased a ring to support those in need. Hurricane Harvey has touched many lives and the effects will be felt for years to come. The focus now is getting people the supplies they need until some type of normalcy can be restored. Being Coastal residents the EarthChunks family is ready to help on the front lines and here's how we're going to do it. . . The ring you see was created a year ago but was cut directly from the twenty-five-year-old Mediterranean Wild Olive Tree in my backyard that has since fallen from the storms high winds. I'd like to set up a pre-order on these rings so that you can purchase them now we can use 100% of the funds to get supplies to those in need quickly. We can help people NOW and by the time the lumber is dried and stabilized I can start producing rings. 100% of the funds collected for the Rings will be used to purchase supplies and delivered directly to the front line. Focusing on Rockport/Port Aransas area the Chunks family will be hand delivering supplies over the next few weeks. My wife wanted to go help and children were eager to get involved so this is the perfect way for us all to play a part. Don't let the price fool you, I've made them affordable and effective. These are awesome rings at an awesome price for an awesome cause so let's do some awesome s***. J. Available NOW on EarthChunks.com link in my bio @earthchunks please feel free to repost or share this on any social media platform. Anyone wanting to help in other ways by donating money food or other items please contact the Red Cross or DM me directly. #hurricaneharvey #makersforharvey #texas #standwithhouston #hurricanerelief #fundraiser #harveyvictims #handson #olivewood #ring #earthchunks #hurricane #disasterrelief #texasstrong #standwithtexas #madeintexas #texassky

Houston and Homeschooling
The devastation is beyond belief. As I sit in my living room watching it all unfold I am at a loss. How do I tell Munchkin about this? How do I explain the terror? The grief? The loss? How do I assure her help is there and that we are helping out even though we are at home? How do I answer the questions she will have when I don’t know the answers myself?
So I show her the pictures. I show her the young and old, black and white, humans and animals. I show her pictures of Americans helping Americans. I show her some pictures that make her sad. I show her some pictures that make me sad but make her laugh (the people hanging out on swim floats in their houses). We talk about them. We talk about the hurricane and how rain kept falling.
I admit I made some assumptions (and for that I am terribly sorry...but my assumptions didn’t diminish my sympathy or desire to help Houstonains out). WHY OH WHY DIDN’T THEY EVACUATE??? Munchkin asked the same question. Luckily, someone online was able to explain to me before hand that the roads are made to funnel water and because of that a mass exodus isn’t possible with millions of people. Because someone was kind enough to explain this to me (hey, life is all about learning regardless of your age) I am able to explain to Munchkin about all of the brave people who trusted their govt structure and have put their faith in all of those volunteers who are able to help rescue them. I can show her the pictures of someone riding on a unicorn in their yard and see the joy they are getting while stuck in a bad situation even though it makes me sad.
While all of this is going on I have a decent amount of homeschooling supplies (some copied 40 times that has been passed from one homeschooling family to the next, some new and never used, and some in between) that I think needs a new home. I have found a facebook group I *think* is legit for getting homeschool supplies to displaced families. (And children’s books...I have a few lol...ok, a few hundred but still. I admit, I have an addiction to children’s books.) So Munchkin and I will be going through my stash in the next few days and mailing off things that are needed. We are also donating other things to general programs as well. I see all of these volunteers in Houston and want to be there helping but I know, right now, I would be a hindrance more than a help so we stay home. We stay home and pray. We stay home and learn about Houston and read about all of the strong fierce people that live there. We stand with Texas.
