also poe was out of character because rian johnson wrote him as a hotshot hotheaded arrogant flyboy who cares about glory more than saving lives when the canon comics established that he cares about others at the expense of his own life
I haven’t read the comics, just seen the movies and in all fairness we didn’t see much of him in the first movie so I felt like I was just now getting to know him in this one :/ maybe that’s my bad - I don’t know any of the outside lore about the films beyond reading the film novelization

ok sorry but this is really dismissive of genuine problems poc have had with the movie, you cant push all the racism in star wars onto the fans like that. the white feminist backlash to poe's character is proof enough that the film demonised him
I guess I just had an entirely different experience with his arc. obviously I did - I haven’t read any articles at all and the word mansplaining never occurred to me while watching the movie - everything I wrote just then was purely my interpretation of what I saw on the film devoid of anyone else’s reaction to it. I’m not trying to push racism onto the fans either, just noting patterns I’ve noticed. but I don’t think Poe was sexualized in the film unless I’ve somehow been hugely blindsided by it, and wasn’t his plan what ultimately ended up saving all of them? I’m saying all of this in genuine sincerity as well; not trying to be rude or sarcastic

I’ll be watching it over winter break! I’ve no doubt it will be amazing; I’m so excited to see it! added the pacific and mindhunter as well...idk if ppl think of the get down as a period drama but it’s certainly a period piece too. I’m forgetting more modern stuff as well probably!
