HP Things I Missed My First Read-Through Because I’m Dumb

I read Harry Potter when I was 8 years old, and thought it would be really cool to speed read through it. Many, many, many things went straight over my head.

Now, years and years later, I decided to reread it carefully and... well, you’ll see the list

Ginny having a huge crush on Harry at first

Percy siding with the ministry instead of his family

Cho dating Cedric before liking Harry

“have a biscuit, Potter”

Kreacher

Grawp

Harry being jealous of Cedric at first because of Cho

The sexual tension between Draco and Harry (LOL)

All the times Hermione and Ron hang out without Harry off-screen

Harry didn’t really play Quidditch in book 4 and 5

Snape is a d*ck, like I seriously loathe him

Crabbe and Goyle’s parents are Death Eater’s too

Sirius is/was handsome af

Peter Pettigrew lost his arm or something that was nasty

Harry was moody af in Order (although it was kinda reasonable). Idk I just didn’t enjoy Order

Fred and George’s dramatic escape from Hogwarts in their 7th year

Ginny getting Draco with a Bat-Bogey Hex

Draco, Crabbe and Goyle being turned into slugs (I genuinely laughed at that)

The awkwardness of Ron and Harry trying to find a date to the Yule Ball (That was good)

Hermione and Krum, and Ron being jealous of Krum 

Dumbledore admitting how much he cares for Harry (I used to see Dumbledore as the get out of jail card type character, the details and human traits about him went completely over my head when I was young and stupid)

I’m literally so dumb I didn’t see Ginny and Harry getting together at all I thought it would be Harry and Hermione because at 8 I had no sense of romance/chemistry I just thought main characters got together with other main characters

BONUS: I thought Malfoy was Draco’s first name, and for the first two books I pronounced Hermione in my head as “her-me-own”

What Your Favourite Raven Cycle Character Says About You

Blue - You’re strong-willed and would probably enjoy reading Stargirl. You may have a big crush on Gansey and project yourself onto her. Or you’re gay. Maybe both.

Gansey - You are open to travelling around the world and obsessed with gathering knowledge. You probably have a notebook filled with all sorts of random information. If you don’t own one, you’d want to own a typewriter. 

Adam - You idolize or are a workaholic/underdog-type. You admire how people can build themselves up from nothing. You idolize the hell outta this guy for getting the grades, the gang, and the guy. You have high expectations/visions of where you want to go in your life. 

Ronan - You admire Ronan’s boldness and i-don’t-give-a-shit attitude, but you probably find yourself relating more to how intensely he loves Adam or his more soft qualities. You may have briefly considered taking a Latin class or learning some Latin phrases because of him - carpe diem my dude!

Noah - You’re the quiet one of any group, and you feel you have to defend those who feel pushed aside/in the background because you project yourself onto them. You’re just all around a nice person, but that sense of loneliness dogs you.

Henry - You’ve definitely quoted that “there’s a bee?” vine when thinking of him. You have good taste in men, and probably fashion too. You’re just straight up great

The Raven Boys Boyband AU

Ok, but like? The Raven Boys? Sounds like a boy band?!

Gansey - lead singer/songwriter. Keeps his songs in THAT journal, also plays a bit of acoustic guitar. He’s like some kind of Joshua Bassett-type musician, bad with social media and just wanting to release his music. His performances are just all in and emotional. Everything about his stage presence is intimate and totally him. He still has his first electric guitar, a very standard Fender, it’s not customized or anything,  he’s had for years now, and he takes immense pride in it despite the others thinking it’s some old piece of junk. Get this - his bandmates and fans call it ‘the Pig’

Ronan - crackhead/’bad-boy’ of the group, backing vocals and drummer. He runs the band’s social media and loves sharing his odd music taste. Is known for hinting a ‘murder squash song’ to fans, it’s become some sort of unreleased fever dream type thing, like the coconut sharks in the water twenty one pilots song or something. He is known to wear insane outfits at concerts, completely out of uniform with the others. The fans think he’s absolutely eccentric, and try and get him to be some GUCCI/VOGUE ambassador or something 

Adam - Electric guitarist, can absolutely shred the guitar. The band’s song are kind of soft and mellow, but Adam always manages to sneak in incredible solos and iconic riffs. His social media presence basically doesn’t exist other than in occasional selfies on Ronan’s instagram. He comes across as very put-together. He is the high-IQ type of the group, he is still in university on the side, and studying between shows and the fans idolize him for this. But overall he’s just humble and a great-guy.

Noah - the softie of the group. Organist/synth player. He’s got some 2010 boy band aesthetic going on, he wears his hair in a fringe and all the girls SWOON for this softie. Everyone absolutely ADORES him. Cinnamon roll of the group. He’s the SHY shy one. He doesn’t post many photos of him on Instagram, and during interviews he rarely talks. Everyone thinks he’s super underrated. It’s a treat for fans to see him perform, because when he gets lost in the music he dances a little and is surprisingly a cute dancer.
