Stanza Coffee, 3126 16th St., San Francisco, CA (Mission), Score: 42/50
Stanza’s second location is larger and more rustic looking than their Haight location. The coffee and pastries are the same but the laptop campers in the Mission are more serious and camp for longer periods.
Score: 42/50
Food: 4/5 – They only have a few pastries (muffins, cookies) and quiche but the food is very good (I think it’s from Mission Beach Café). The chocolate chip cookie with sea salt was quite lovely though I wanted more chocolate chips and crispier edges. I wish they had bagels and more substantial fare.
Coffee: 5/5 – These people know how to make a great latte with lovely foam art. The latte was smooth, creamy, and rich in flavor. Pour over is available. They also had a fancy looking vacuum coffee contraption. Intelligentsia beans were being used that day.
Wi-fi: 5/5 – Free, ask for password at the counter, average speed
Ambiance: 5/5 – Rustic, high ceilings, old wood floors, Moroccan looking lanterns/light fixtures, grey walls, counter seating, on the dark side. There are tables inside and outside.
Noise: 4/5 – Music is relaxing, you can hear traffic driving by
Plugs: 3/5 – They’re under the banquettes but not enough for everyone
Parking: 2/5 – Get here early or it could be very tough. Two hour free parking is about the best you can expect.
Comfort: 5/5 – Rattan chairs and vinyl banquettes are pretty comfy. The chairs and tables are more comfortable than the ones at their Haight location.
Bathroom: 4/5 – Unisex, one restroom available
Art: 5/5 – Liked the hands and cutout art on the walls, don’t think it was for sale
Tips: ATM on site. They don’t have nonfat milk but they do offer 2% milk. Check their Facebook page for public cupping events. It's close to the 16th St. BART station.
