Cosmic Genesis
Saving these for Posterity, since, when I finally found the sprite rips of them, I had the impulse to upscale/enhance/recolor them.
I'd asked @the2dstagesfg about them a while back, and he said they would not have been easy to rip (though I found them on PalMod Discord thanks to DerekFCC!)
In case you don't know, these are the "Dark Force" nebula that appears in the Vampire/Darkstalkers fighting game stages.
The topmost is the original natural color, the next below is a slightly enhanced brightness adjustment I made to bring out the hues.
The bottom two are just two custom hues I made based on my tastes... it's really beautiful for a sprite stage effect!
In the games themselves, the very center of the stage effect will cause a wavy "shimmer" animation effect, as if you were in a whole other dimension!
As a side note... throughout the series, Guilty Gear has had special effects like this during Overdrive Attacks, Dust Launches during Air Combos, and also during some rare Overdrive Finishers.
GGX was the oldest game to have those kind of looping effects, but they later added shimmering stars, lightning, spikes of aura, and sometimes even lens flares, depending on the game!
I just wanted to share this because to me it brings to mind the mystery of the great beyond, and games like Darkstalkers (and Guilty Gear) embraced such bizarre places!
