Emcy got kissed by Carina! (Drawing)
A/N: Idk if this can count as a drabble as this is quite short and rough yet is somehow 1.7K words. Anyway @amus2110 wrote the kiss scene AND DREW IT
Wyanne was jaw. dropped. “Was that…?”
Amit nodded. “Yeah… That was Carina.”
Andrew was the only one not shocked. “I knew it! I knew it!” He pumped his fists in the air enthusiastically and hurried over to Emcy. “Oho! She left lipstick prints too!”
Wyanne rushed over and squealed, jumping up and down. “Oh my gods! Oh my gods oh my gods! Amit, do you see this?! It’s a lipstick mark!”
“Yes I do,” Amit laughed with her, “I never knew you two were together, Emcy!”
“We’re not…” Emcy looked down at the floor where Carina had been mere moments ago. “You said there’s a print?” His hand instinctively went up to his cheek—and stopped before he could ruin it. The spot she kissed was still warm…
“Did you notice how he became a literal statue when she kissed him?” Andrew teased. “And then she smiled at him!”
“Oh yeah, I saw that!” Wyanne was still giggling. “He couldn’t even speak!”
She smiled at him… Her absolutely adorable smile was for him… She smiled at him so cutely…She jumped and kissed him and smiled at him…
“I think he’s in shock,” Amit chortled, “he’s not moving at all.”
She kissed him. Carina Savage kissed him. His crush of an entire year and some more kissed him. Carina kissed him. Carina kissed him. Carina kissed him.
Wyanne snickered again. “He’s been unmoving for a disturbingly long t—“ CRASH!
Carina had a skip in her step while she returned to the Hospital Wing. She plopped back down behind the matron’s desk and returned to annotating her text. She tried to distract herself by trying to translate the symbols on the book, but her mind always somehow wandered back to Emcy’s face. Icy-blue eyes blown wide. Mouth opened, not a sound uttered. His cheeks prettily dusted in pink.
She covered her face and quietly squealed. How could he be any more endearing?
“Left! Go left—oh my gods I said LEFT!” Wyanne’s loud bellow caused Carina to look up in alarm. Two Ravenclaws—Andrew Larson and Amit Thakkar—carried (more like Wingardium Leviosa’d) a boy into the Hospital Wing and dropped him in the first vacant bed. Carina was already by their side while Wyanne explained that Emcy had fainted all of a sudden.
“What?” Carina looked down and cleaned away the blood on his forehead. “He fainted? How much water had he been drinking lately?
“More than enough,” Andrew reported diligently while Wyanne fetched pillows from the other beds. “3 litres daily to be exact!”
Carina dabbed some dittany onto the cut. She prayed he didn’t get a concussion. “Has he been fainting a lot like this lately?”
“No,” Amit answered while holding up Emcy’s legs so Wyanne could tuck the pillows under, “he’s been…healthy. He trains, he goes to classes, he goes to bed at 9:30 every night and wakes at 6 o’clock.”
So it was a first time occurance… “Did he eat something different today?”
“No, but can I say something?” Wyanne interjected with a tired expression, “I’m pretty sure he just fainted from shock because you kissed him.”
Everyone was silent for a moment. Carina’s heart dropped to the ground. “I…” She looked back down at Emcy, who looked like he was sleeping quite peacefully. “Did I really…?”
“Don’t blame yourself, Carina,” Wyanne sounded completely unbothered. One might even say she was happy about it. “Emcy was just shocked. It’s not every day he gets kissed. He’ll be fine.”
Carina brushed a strand of hair away from Emcy’s face and frowned slightly. “I didn’t think he’d faint…”
“No one saw it coming,” Andrew shook his head. Amit shot him a mortified look. “Uh-wait, I mean—I mean no one thought he’d faint. Everyone—our friend group—knew something might go on—between you two—when Emcy kept disappearing during your shifts. Uh. Heh. He’ll be fine. He’s a big boy! …Quite literally…”
Wyanne shook her head and facepalmed.
“Okay,” Amit tittered, “why don’t we leave Emcy alone to Carina’s care? He’s in good hands, we can go.”
“Aww!” Andrew pouted as Wyanne and Amit grabbed him by both arms, “but I wanna see them—mph!”
“Hush.” Wyanne stuffed another exploding bon bon into his mouth for good measure. The trio rushed out of there, leaving Carina alone with Emcy.
She sighed quietly and sat down on the edge of the bed. His chest rose and fell softly as he slept, perhaps dreaming of something that made him so calm. She remembered that there were a few occurrences where he jerked awake, sweating from fear. But that only happened a few times last year. The record was still zero this year.
She stared at the unsmudged lipstick mark on his left cheek she’d planted only minutes ago. She didn’t ask, but from the looks of it he’d fallen and fell on the right side of his face. A smile crept up her face at the thought that maybe, just maybe, he’d been careful not to destroy her souvenir.
She sighed again. She couldn’t believe she had caused this. She just wanted to tease him, encourage him, give him a clue that his rather obvious feelings were reciprocated. She hadn’t meant to make him faint.
Will he really be alright…?
Gosh, what if he hated her after this? Saw her differently and decided he didn’t actually like her? That would be embarrassing…
Emcy’s eyelashes fluttered before his eyes opened slightly. His icy-blue eyes slowly drifted over to her.
“Hello,” Carina whispered with a gentle smile, “do you know where you are?”
In heaven with an angel. “I’m in the Hospital Wing.” Ugh, the world was spinning a little. “How come…?
“You fainted in the Great Hall just now,” she explained to him as he sat up slowly, “Wyanne, Andrew, and Amit brought you here.”
“Ah…” He mulled over his words before he continued, “were they a lot of trouble?”
“Nope! They were very helpful. Do you feel alright?”
He was silent for a few seconds. “I’m just a little dizzy.”
“You also got a cut on your forehead. I put some dittany over it, so it should heal in a few minutes.”
“Thank you…” He smiled at her very softly, very gently. Then he looked down at his hands in guilt, clenching and unclenching them again.
“I shouldn’t keep troubling you like this…”
“No, not at all,” Carina leaned in closer, “I don’t mind. You are my favourite patient.”
He forced a laugh out of himself. “Really?”
“I’m a terrible liar, Emcy.”
“I know,” he looked up at her with a wider smile, “you’re always truthful. It’s one of my favourite things about you.”
She’d never heard him speak so many words at once. He wasn’t sure when the last time he spoke so much was. “I—What else do you like about me?”
“I…” He looked down at his hands again, his initial appreciation for her kindness now replaced with embarrassment as his face turned redder by the second. “I like…your smile.”
“And…how gentle you are.”
Carina giggled happily and kicked her feet in the air. “What else?”
“I like your laugh.” He sounded surer of himself now. Because he did like it. “I also…like your hair.”
“My hair?” She brushed a stray strand behind her ear. “I like my hair too.”
Emcy couldn’t help the little chuckle. “I like your eyes…” He looked up at her, staring intensely into her eyes. “They’re…enchanting.”
She felt her cheeks heat up at the compliment. Emcy was already as red as a tomato, but he continued. “I like your voice. It’s very soft. And I like your earrings. They suit you.” He clenched his fists so hard he was sure he'd leave marks on his palm. “And I…I…”
He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t do this!
Carina suddenly cupped his face in her hands. Her warm, soft, small hands cupped his face. “You fancy me, don’t you?”
Shock. Pure shock. How did she…
“I’m very observant. But also you’re…a little obvious.”
“So you fancy me, don’t you?”
Emcy squeezed his eyes shut tightly, his body trembling under her touch, his blushing face burning his cheeks and ears. He nodded once very quickly.
“Well, guess what?” She leaned in and planted a kiss on the tip of his nose. His eyes shot wide open. “I like you too.”
He was sure he was going to faint again.
She drew a little heart before she flipped to the next page, her heart doing a little dance as the two main characters teased each other. She’d only bought this romance book last week because the illustrations, instead of the writing, had caught her eye. She wasn’t complaining though—the story was really good.
She scribbled notes into the empty margins as warm, slightly roughed fingertips brushed the side of her neck before slowly combing through her long and soft white hair.
She sighed softly in content. She did adore having someone play with her hair.
Gentle fingers continued threading through the silky strands, lifting them away from the back of her neck. The cold air brushed against her skin, making her shiver.
There was a quiet sigh before soft lips pressed a feather-light kiss against her nape, their warmth lingering after they pulled away.
Every thought vanished as she froze up.
Heat rushed up her neck, flooding her cheeks. Her heart beat faster as her attention on the book became unfocused.
Before she could even react, a warm arm slipped carefully around her waist, pulling her back against a solid chest.
Flustered, she turned her head, only to meet a pair of familiar icy-blue eyes.
“Why are you blushing?” Emcy asked curiously with a tilt of his head.
“I—It’s nothing. It’s just, uh, the book.” She chuckled to herself while holding his gaze. “Why did you suddenly kiss me?”
His own face became red and he looked to the side. “…Because I wanted to.”
She took a second to register his words, blinked, before she giggled and melted into him.
