I guess it was Smaug (Bilbo and Gollum from that same time also had similar levels of hyperfixation) even tho idk why calling him my blorbo feels odd? After that I think it would have been Loki next. Or Will Turner actually I think I watched potc before the mcu
Favorite comfort book, show, and/or game when you're not writing?
Pirates of the Caribbean!!!!! At World’s End is my fav I have watched it wayyy too many times (there can never be enough rewatches). As for books, the Hobbit of course, I have known that book by heart for almost as long as I can remember
Do you have a blorbo playlist? If yes, what are some of the songs on it?
I tend to make playlists more for my own original characters/stories than for already existing blorbos. I use them mainly to get and stay in the mindset while I’m writing them, tho making them also does help me get a better idea of them in my head. They consist of mainly soundtracks partially bc songs with words can distract me when I’m writing and mostly bc my music taste is 99% dramatic soundtracks
Since I’ve been talking about Starfate more lately here’s some from that playlist:
The Killing Kind by Marianas Trench
Like the entire last bit of the Silksong soundtrack from Red Memory down plus a few others (most recent addition)
Various Aviators songs including but not limited to Song of the Abyss, Paralyzed, and Godhunter
Hollow from ff7 remake
Destati kingdom hearts
Until the End from RWBY
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again and Empty Chairs at Empty Tables from Les Mis and Phantom for my musicals fix
Many selections from other soundtracks including but not limited to Moon Knight, the Hobbit, the Dragon Prince, Elden Ring, Little Nightmares, A Plague Tale
This one is an apocalyptic scenario set in europe (bc i'm tired of every apocalypse story taking place in the US). It's a story that continues to flash back to the past and forth to the present, so we get the current situation as well as how we got there. There's four main characters and all of their stories get told, they all end up meeting and having to survive together. The apocalypse is a virus that basically eats at ur organs. When it enters the brain you kind of go feral, and for humans it takes two weeks to get to the brain. Symptoms start with what looks like the flu, but eventually you turn into a mindless creature that only lives to eat human flesh, and the hunger can never be stopped.
Our character Nora (self insert lmao) is a Belgian girl who's in college. When the apocalypse starts she gets split up from her family at the quarantine zone. She decides to camp out with her best friend, a girl called Maxine who goes to class with her and has a son. Maxine lives in the quarantine zone, in an apartment in Antwerp. Nora also secretly has a crush on Maxine. Maxine however ends up getting infected and bites her own son. Nora ends up having to kill both Maxine and the baby boy. This eats at her for the rest of the story. As the quarantine zone gets smaller and smaller Nora befriends three others. Manon, Mats and Annelies. Manon and Mats both end up dying when the quarantine zone eventually falls.
Annelies is a Chinese-Belgian. She's the same age as Nora. I haven't fully figured out her story yet, but basically her parents are stuck in China when the apocalypse breaks out (they went to see the sick grandma) and Annelies and her twin brother Axel have to survive together. Axel ends up dying. Annelies meets Nora once she makes it to the quarantine zone.
Then we have Josiah. He's a British construction worker, and about three years older than the first two. He lived in London when the apocalypse broke out, and because the apocalypse started in the US (bc ofc it did) a lot of them fled to Europe, he chose to join the American flood to Europe and made it all the way to Kopenhagen. But then the quarantine camp in Kopenhagen gets overrun by infected. He then basically jumps from camp to camp, watching all of them inevitably burn down, and then makes it to Antwerp, where he meets Nora. Nora often goes outside of the quarantine zone to loot, and they run into each other in an abandoned mall (this is where the story in the present starts).
Our last character is Nathan. I haven't worked on his past story too much. He is a Frenchman with Nigerian roots. He lives with his aunt in Calais. Aunt got infected and was killed by her boyfriend. Nathan only meets the other three once they make it to Calais, in an attempt to get back to England. That fails. Until Annelies remembers the Apocalypse Vault in Norway. It would give them the tools to survive. So they travel back across Europe.
This is when Nora gets bitten and discovers she's immune. She experiences a mild fever and then just lives. No explanation. She doesn't understand why she gets to live and it bothers her. She also hides it from the others, up until Josiah (Joss) figures it out. In Germany they run into a doctor who has been working to understand the virus. Obviously this doctor is very intrigued by Nora being immune and tests a bunch of things on her. She allows this bc what if they were able to reverse engineer a vaccine? Stuff goes wrong however, and Nora is presumed dead by the others and they are forced to leave her. Nora isn't dead though, and now has to survive on her own. She meets an 11yr old called Martin. The only reason Martin survived the virus outbreak in his local town, is because he is also immune. They stick together. Meanwhile Joss, Annelies and Nathan all got into a gated community in Germany. This community has electricity (powered by a dam) and is very strict on who they allow in.
That's sort of where i leave it off. Ofc Nora will run into the others again but i like to change up how and who she runs into first. There's also a little bit of an unspoken attraction between Nora and Joss (yes Nora is bisexual i told y'all she's a self insert) so that's something to figure out too! There's also a matter of where this virus came from and it potentially being created in the US with the intention of using it as biological warfare.
Heyyy, I saw you reblogging one of your old fics that had my old username in the tags and I realised that one is still in your taglist! I was black-eyed-bucky and if it wasn't too much trouble I would love to be tagged with my new username starfate, as I would hate to miss out on your awesome writing!!
HONEY! Congrats on the new username, I think it’s a fun change. But, as of now, I have no intentions of writing or posting anything new. I love that you dropped in to ask that I update your username so that you don’t miss out on anything though. You’ve been so supportive over the years and I can’t put into words how much that has meant to me ❤️
Thinking about my ocs againnnn imagine being a kid so full of life in a place where an early death is pretty much assured and when that fate does come upon you neither you nor your brother can accept it and you get trapped in a state of undeath and separated from all you were living for and you and your brother end up outliving everyone who raised you (you killed them, it was mercy they suffer that fate rather than be trapped in what you thought you wanted, as you came to be; surely your brother would understand) but by the time you find each other again your focus on your desperation to not succumb to death has made you lose touch with what it means to live and this undeath is all that remains and if he would just join you maybe you could find that meaning again
HIII it’s me i’m the person reading this, WHO‼️are the OCs you mentioned in the tags? I would like to make about them :3
Why hello there totally anonymous person, I’m so glad you asked! >:) As a lover of worldbuilding these are all characters from the same fantasy world I’ve been tinkering with for a while, Flaime, but are mostly from different stories in that world! I. Will read more this time bc I will probably end up yapping for a bit. I am terrible at explaining things in short format. Click on if you like dragons and elves and stars etc
So first my eponymous Foreststar! They are the chief figure of the pantheon of Flaime, and unlike the others who are mostly elemental-themed (all dragons, I love them all dearly) she is the patron of story. Bardic culture my beloved. She has a counterpart, Darkstar, who is also story, but they cover sort of different aspects of that—he’s like the yin to her yang type of thing, honestly still fiddling with how exactly that works and where they do or don’t overlap. But basically he’s death/the ending of a story and the beginning of a new one, while she’s the living that happens in between! Foreststar is very benevolent hedonistic trickster vibes (I will admit to being inspired by Loki’s god of stories marvel comics arc). They do have a main dragon form like all the other elementals (which my amazingly talented bff @fridgefanatic has done wonderful art of for me several times before, see here for example. There’s also another I don’t think she has posted but the starry wings on it are like my favorite thing ever), but they tend to shapeshift and spend significantly more time among the mortals than the others do, to have some fun and find new stories to be told or perhaps incited. Tries to be a generally decent god, and does care a lot, but can also come across as detatched or like if an author was allowed to interact with their own characters lmao. Occasionally sort of reincarnates herself to live among mortals properly for a few decades
Which brings us to Silva and Orion Starfate yayyy!!! They are the main characters in my sort-of-retelling-mostly-just-inspired-by Castor and Pollux story (which is actually something I did manage to write a full manuscript of a few years back that I really need to revisit and revise). It’s very night sky themed dark fantasy, pretty much every character is inspired by and/or named after some stars-related myth. Anyways Silva and Orion are codependent orphaned twins that live in this nightmare cursed forest infested with unkillable undead hostile moon knights that make it so the inhabitants of the forest basically have to be nomads or die. Silva is unfortunate enough to run into one of them and is shot through the heart with one of their cursed arrows essentially made of frozen moonlight, which turns her into one of them. Orion thinks she’s dead and vows to find a way to kill every last moon knight or die trying. Silva also thinks Orion is dead and vows to destroy the moon knights from the inside (they don’t suspect her bc the cursed arrow was also supposed to brainwash her. It did not, at first at least hehehehe then Eclipse <3) with the help of the nature spirit Rot (I almost put them in the tags too I love them). Oh no :) don’t worry there’s a happy ending. But lots of angst first :) oh shit right appearances, I have no art for them alas but. Identical twins (different genders yes I know transgender is magical. Which one of them? Yes), built like unhealthily pale sticks, long straight dark brown hair on Silva and short on Orion. Silva’s eventual moon knight fit is black mail emblazoned with a silvery crescent moon, mostly covered by a big black hooded cloak that’s silky black on the outside and starry on the inside, wields two khopesh w blades made out of moonlight. Orion’s fit I don’t remember how I described atm but he eventually gets the stars of Orion’s belt glowing on his forehead and also he has that kind of side cloak used as an offhand parrying thing (look up people fighting w sword and cloak) and a rapier also made of moon/starlight
Last but not least, my dear Osprey! He was part of the first group of elves to pop into existence. He and his bestie/brother-by-elemental-fascination Gill loved the ocean above all else in nature. But while Gill preferred to swim beneath the waves and play in the reefs, eventually learning enough water magic to grow himself. Well. Gills, Osprey preferred the view on the crests of the waves, where the ripples in the water made it look like a living thing and it stretched out as far into the horizon as even the elfish eye could see. He spent most of his time sitting on the cliffs by the sea, looking out at that horizon with the ospreys and gulls for company, wishing he could fly away into it like them. He wished he could join Gill, but he could only swim so far without being able to breathe underwater. So one day he got it into his head to use a big piece of cloth to try to get it to catch the wind so he could fly like the ospreys. To his credit it did work for all of 10 seconds before he got tossed into the raging sea during a pretty vicious storm, and the only reason he didn’t drown is because Gill happened to be swimming through there at the time (poor Gill nearly had a heart attack and tended to be rather overprotective after this, not that that ever managed to work on the ever-impulsive Osprey). Then he thought hey what if I put the cloth on a floaty wood thing so I don’t sink? And that’s how ships were invented in Flaime! Lol yeah basically he’s like if you crossed Will Turner with Tuor. I have not thought much about what he looks like tbh but I do think I want him to turn into an osprey upon his death to watch over his family (he drowns in a big world-saving naval battle 😔), so maybe bird-y features like that
If you read all of this wow thank you you are amazing and incredible and I deeply appreciate it and also I hope you enjoyed! I love my little freaks I love putting them through the angst blender and microwaving them in my mind yippeeeee!!!! If I skipped over talking about anything you wanna know feel free to ask
