“Is not that!” Tony giggled and shook his head, trying to cover his face. He had used that trick before and knew it didn’t work, but he meant it. It was something he had always wanted to say to Jarvis, he just didn’t know how.

       In an impulse, Tony pounced over Jarvis, wrapping his arms real tight around the butler’s neck. There were times where Tony wished Jarvis was his father, but in a way he was, he was always there for Tony. “Will we always be best friends?”

Tony had not planned on coming home for Christmas. His mother might want him there for appearances, but his father certainly didn't want him around too much. But he really needed to talk to Jarvis and a phone call from one of the almost entirely public phones on campus wasn't going to do it.

Tony knocked on his way in the door, just to let him know he was there, and then sat up on the counter near Edwin. "Hey. I... Do you have a couple minutes? For something important?"

        “ Nonsense, Jarvis. If we don’t get you home, it could get worse and we don’t want that and I know Ana especially would not appreciate you being sick and would ring my neck.” He took one glance to the event ahead of him something utterly tiring and a bore was Howard’s assumption about it so missing it would not be a big deal. Not that he was simply using Jarvis being sick as an excuse to leave, he wished for his butler and friend to be in the best of health and hated dragging him about when he looked as if he just rolled out of bed.

         “ Besides, ” The young inventor’s voice rang in the air again. “ I believe that it’s just a suggestion to actually be present. I don’t think my appearance is necessary for surely they can handle it without me. Come on, back in the car! ”

“I know you would,” she breathed, still awe-struck by the idea all these years after they had met and married. She moved close enough to rest her head on his shoulder and hug him. He didn’t – in a way, couldn’t – understand how much he and his devotion meant to her. “And thank you for that. Please understand that I would do the same for you.”
