Trick or Treat! (ROTG) Please and thank you!
[You’re welcome in advance! Cheers, mate. For you:]
"Okay, okay! I am ready now for this tricking and treating!" North said loudly as he cast about his sabers. He was dressed in his old pirated garments, long robe with sleeves pulled up to showcase his tattoos and his long hair braided and dyed black to make him look younger.
"Oh, I’m so excited!" Tooth looked less feathery, managing to revert herself into the way she looked before she became one of the sisters of flight thanks to North’s potion and Manny’s blessing. Her hair dark brown and wavy, decorated with long feathers and jewelry. She had goggles on her and her elegant body was draped in some sort of Indian robes as her amethysts eyes looked about excitedly. She still had her wings though and on her hip was a sheath for her fencing sword. "I don’t approve of the sugary consumptions but I can’t wait to go to the halloween ball with the other spirits."
"Heard Jack-o-lantern’s a good host," Bunny stepped up next. He was dressed in his old green robes looking regal and very much like a scholar he was back in the good old days, staff and book on hand. He adjusted the green tinted glasses and gave them a once over. "This feels nostalgic."
Sandy nodded, being the eldest of the group. He looked the same though except his dream sand body had shifted into star shaped. Unlike the rest of them, Sandy’s appearance never changed. He tilted his head to his comrades, a snowflake sign above his head and an elegantly curved question mark.
"Ah yes, Jack is not yet here." North nodded looking about worriedly. "Has he not finished speaking with Manny yet?"
"Oh, I wonder how he looked like before! Oh I’m so excited!" Tooth said vibrating on where she stood.
"Now sheila, don’t forget Jack is younger than us. He was a human before he became Jack Frost." Bunnymund said leaning against a pillar, arms crossed.
But then there was suddenly the sound of doors opening, “Ah, sorry to keep you guys waiting.” Came a sheepish voice. And almost immediately, everybody’s attention shifted to the immortal teen.
It was strange to see how vulnerable Jack looked in the fire place lighted room of North’s workshop. With hair the color of oak and eyes like melted caramel, his skin a healthy shade instead of unhealthy pale, and his lips pink not blue or white- he looked like every other human being.
And so painfully young.
"Yeah, so this was how I looked like before. Sorta plain I know." Jack laughed as he scratched the back of his head.
"Jack," Tooth began in a soft tone. It was weird to see the frost spirit so vulnerable, so human, so… young. They thought he was at least eighteen when he was chosen, but looking like this, they began to doubt. “What age were you when you became one of us?”
The winter spirit’s eyebrows furrowed, his staff in his hand, blending in with the rich tones of brown in his appearance. “You mean how old I was when I died?”
There was a sharp inhalation of breath and Bunny repeated, “Died?”
"I was about fourteen I think…" Jack scratched his chin, "Or about to turn fourteen? I don’t know." He grinned at the others as the guardians froze. He let his smile drop, "Guys? You okay?"
"Uh," North cast a look at his fellow guardians who looked equal parts horrified and wary. Sandy shook his head lightly, signalling that this wasn’t the time for such discussions. "It is nothing Jack, we best get going or we will be late." The Russian said injecting jolliness in his tone.
"Oh…kay." Jack said, hesitating. He turned his brown eyes to Bunny and smirked, "Nice dress, Cottontail."
And just like that the atmosphere shifted as Bunny growled, “Not a dress Frostbite, it’s a robe!”
"Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night." Jack laughed as he flew out of reach when Bunny threw a boomerang his way.
"Boys, stop that, act your age." Tooth scolded.
Jack laughed, “You mean act like a decrepit old man?”
Tooth huffed as Sandy laughed. Still, she had a smile on her face as she said, “You know what I mean.”
North laughed as he took a snow globe from his pocket, “Ah good atmosphere, let’s get going, yes?”
The guardians nodded enthusiastically as the old Santa threw the object to the wall.
There would be plenty of time to ask Jack about his past later.
[And here it is! Hope you enjoy! :D]
