19. What’s your favourite character head-canon?  I have... a few...and favourites are hard to pick, so I’m literally just gonna dump a few here.

- Hearing-impaired Sharky and Hurk. A lot of the men in their family are have inherited deafness, which contributes to how loud they all are.  - John had no interest in planes nor piloting skills until he met Nick, and before Eden’s Gate got too weird to handle, they were close friends. Part of John’s obsession with harassing the Rye family is because he still has a lot of lingering sentiment toward them and despite all his animosity, he really wants them to survive. - Grace and Mary May never really interacted much before they both lost their dads. Their fathers were hugely important figures in their lives, and lending support to each other through their mourning period brought them closer. They’re now dating. - Undiagnosed BPD John. - Actually Supportive Big Brother Jacob who is just a little too overbearing when it comes to John. Parenting Asks 6. Who has their kids’ favourite movie nearly memorized on account on how frequently they request to watch it? - John has most of Over the Garden Wall committed to memory thanks to Jack latching onto it as a kid.  - He’s secretly pretty fond of it, especially the music, and he gets into a habit of reciting “Can’t You See I’m Lonely” at Cora a lot. - He’ll idly whistle some of the tunes from the show, which Jack is wild for.  12. Who ends up having to hold whatever half-eaten snack the baby didn’t want anymore?   - No one, because Cora’s already eaten it. Baby food is chock full of nutrition, and she is NOT a fan of waste. - Plus, those little teething rusks? Delicious. 15.  Who is better at comforting the kids when they’re scared? - It depends on the kid, honestly! The boys, John is a lot better at dealing with. He’ll talk through feelings and offer cuddles and pep talks, and they both respond well to that softness. Jack and Matthew always know that they can come to their father with any issue and receive constructive input without being judged, and this is extremely important to John. - The twins, however, are another beast entirely. In the event of nightmares, assurances of safety just aren’t enough. If Cora isn’t there to run them through a step-by-step choreographed program of how they can execute an elbow drop on a demon the moment it slips out from under the bed, they’re still bawling. They don’t need your comfort, Dad, they just need to know that their enemies are weaker than them.  E. Are they honest with their children? Are there certain things they try to shield from them? - John really, really tries to shield his kids from the world beyond their private property. He puts a rose-tinted lens on information he deems them too young to handle, but in general, he’s fairly honest with them. - Cora on the other hand, has no filter and speaks to her kids like they’re 30. John often has to act as her translator when the kids are young by repeating what she says in softer terms and transposing to their demographic. Unlike John, she tries to wisen them up early on to equip them for independence.

You’re gonna regret this shit.  Warnings: NSFW, Cora being unemotional yet petty, as always. Infidelity. 

  🍒-When and how did they lose their virginity, if they have? Cora had her first sexual encounter in college. She was super into Model UN in her high school years, and after moving from New York to Colorado for college, she was quick to find herself a M.U.N club in order to continue her hobby. She’d always prided herself on her ability to take over the room. She wasn’t always best delegate, but her communication skills were improved tenfold by taking part. She was an exceptional strategist and problem-solver, but fell well behind her peers when it came to diplomacy; her interpersonal skills were more geared toward, er, divide and conquer.  Basically, she started a lot of fights. She was well fucking known for playing some hardball world peace, and she was feared for it.  Only, when it came to her university - a community especially overrun by nerds, she wasn’t the only one. 

A couple in their senior year had ruled the stage before her arrival, and she became a quick rival of the two. They were theatre kids turned zoologists. Hung out in an annoying little clique that had no concept of volume control. Always laying on the grass together outside and working wonders as a team on the fake global stage. Totally symbiotic. Lovey-dovey. Promise rings. The whole shebang. Before Cora’s first year, she’d never had an interest in sex.  If there was one thing she’d learned from her time in Model UN, though (aside from near perfect verbal citation of issue research), it was how to start a fight.  Divide and conquer. She propositioned the boyfriend. He was most often the opponent to win more votes, and having people hate him would prove advantageous. He was a college nerd seeking validation, and couldn’t resist the idea that he was seductive enough to draw the attention of a rival, of all things. Nor could he resist the rhetoric of taking a freshman’s virginity. He fucked her after hours in a research building. It wasn’t particularly impressive. She didn’t come, despite his assurances that he’d “ruin her for every other guy”, and as soon as he came, he was so guilt-ridden that he started crying.  It was all a bit shit. If this was what sex was, she wasn’t interested. At the next club meeting, the couple still sat together, but they did so in silence. No longer loud, annoying. He’d confessed his infidelity behind closed doors, and while they’d agreed to stay together, a rift had been opened. Gossip spread, and Cora’s actions drew the ire of a few students.  She didn’t mind much. She had no friends to lose. She was much more concerned with the fact that her rivals were no more.  At least, until she was faced with confrontation from the girlfriend one late night, seeking closure on the matter. Cora wasn’t pleased. She’d been looking forward to brushing her teeth in peace, but then again, she supposed interrupting a monogamous relationship was probably worse than having her flossing routine interrupted. Some part of Cora accepted that she might have owed it to the woman, and so, she listened to her grievances into the early hours of the morning until the topic turned to the boyfriend. They agreed that he was an awful lay. They talked research and hobbies and interests. The girlfriend spoke at length about the thesis she wanted to propose to the faculty, and by 4am, Cora was no longer so sure of her heterosexuality. Laura Dern and Sigourney Weaver had raised questions, sure, but this was real life, and tangible, and dewy-eyed and smart and confessing that her boyfriend had never once made given her an orgasm.  As luck would have it, Cora was an exceptional problem-solver.  They fucked in the bathroom, and it was impressive enough that they both returned the next night, and the night after. Despite having had penetrative sex for the first time a few weeks prior, Cora asserted that her virginity had been taken by the girl who’s boyfriend she’d fucked.  They weren’t interested in each other romantically, and that was fine. It was a good arrangement; by day, they aided each other with their studies, and by night, they either ruled the Model UN stage together as allies, or ate each other out in the bathroom. All in all, Cora learned a hell of a lot about diplomacy that year. Never ended up getting an acknowledgement in that thesis, though.   Damn shame.  Oh, well. She can’t remember either of their names.
