Janet Varney, the voice of Korra, is working on a “special” project for Nickelodeon

From a recent interview with Starry Mag, in which she was asked what “other recent projects [she has] been busy working on”:

Well, I always have my podcast, The JV Club, where I talk to celebs about their awkward teenagehood, which has been around for nine (gasp!) years, and my other podcast Voyage to the Stars, an improvised space comedy. And I’m working on something special with Nickelodeon that should be announced soon!

Currently we have no idea if this is even Avatar-related, however, Korra is the main connection Janet Varney has to Nickelodeon. Even with that, it’s unlikely this is anything big. If it was a new Avatar Studios project, it would probably be much more secret and she wouldn’t even be able to say that (but who knows!).

My best bet is that this will be something along the lines of one of those video games with different Nick characters-- something auxiliary like that rather than new main story content. But again, who knows!

Q) How much room is there then for improv when you are doing a scene and shooting?

A) I think there’s a general rule that you wanna give some solid takes of what was written the page. There’s a lot of room for collaboration. Like, a ton of room and there’s plenty of situations on the show where either James or Andy Berman or Steve are behind the monitor and I’m doing a scene and they’re yelling, “Oh! Say this. What if you did this?” And they just yell stuff out from behind the monitor and we try it again and try it again. “Do it like a giraffe! Do it like a dinosaur!” So, there’s lots of room for that kind of stuff

Q) Who seems to have the most trouble keeping it together during scenes?

A) If you’re in a scene with James you’re trying to keep it together. Like, sometimes when they’re riffing the underpinnings of who can get someone else to crack…So, they’re deliberately trying to get other costars…So, you’re in a scene with them and they’re riffing and they’re saying all sorts of wacky things and you’re trying to keep a straight face and trying to hold the laughter by purse your lips so that you don’t burst out laughing. But it could be anyone who’s in a scene.

Q) Outside of “Rosewood,” do you have any other projects you’re working on?

A) I’m just starting to paw at some things. I’m coming up for air for the first time in a year and a half and there are a couple of things I’m revisiting. Nothing has been solidified yet, but there’s a law show I have that I’m excited about and that I’ve been talking to James Roday about (who’s been my best friend for 20 years). I did “Psych” with him. My original baby is “Rosewood” and that’s where ninety-five percent of my time has been going so I don’t have a lot of time for other things. But I’m starting to look though.
