This is my first redesign for my little ponies of the past. This one is named Mimic and she is from the first generation of ponies and was a part of the Twinkle Eyes line. She also appeared in the show one time. In case you are confused with the changes with this character, click the link: https://starypallete.tumblr.com/post/188145831124/rules-for-redesigning-ponies to see the rules I have put on myself in order to bring these ponies new life
G4 Mimic, or as I call her, Catchy Cover, is a cover artist (on the nose I know but since when were names like Fluttershy and Applejack subtle?) that lives in Ponyville. She often has her pet parrot, Squawky by her side, often harmonizing with her as she sings. She doesn't often have live shows so she rather records her own material and sells it to the music-loving ponies in her town. She looks up to musically inclined ponies like DJ Pon3 and Rara but due to her distaste to the stage, Catchy doesn't think she can make it that far, but she is still happy to show her town and her friends the songs that she has sung to. Did I mention that she likes to put on some of those bizzazle gems under her eyes for some flare? Because she does. I hope you like my redesign of Gen1′s Mimic. Next time we are going to turn it up a notch and redesign someone a bit more royal. Dm me to give me suggestions on which ponies I should redesign next and I will consider it! See you later :D
Rules for Redesigning Ponies
This is a set of rules I’ve set up for myself for when I take My Little Ponies of the past and bring them to the Friendship is Magic style. Keep these in rules in mind when you see my work because not everything will be adapted EXACTLY into the FiM interpretation of these characters.
Rule 1: I must keep the ponies the species that they were in their original generations Rule 2: I have to keep the same color palette as the original pony, though I am free to alter the colors a bit to avoid eye-burning pinks and other colors that may result in visual murder Rule 3: I can (and will) alter these characters’ cutiemarks, however, I have to keep a reference to their original cutiemark in some way whether that is in the description of the character or a part of the redesign as a whole. I.e If a cutiemark is a blue bunny I can make the character wear a blue bunny suit/blue bunny ears. Or if a character’s original cutiemark is a parrot I can make it the pony’s pet
Rule 4: I have to make a new name for the characters and yes I will put the original name near the new name to avoid confusion or if you want to look up the original pony and how they were in the original material. Though sometimes I will not change the name this is solely dependant on the situation
Rule 5: I have to keep a reference in for the original set of toys the original pony came from, as to add more accuracy to the redesign as a whole. Rule 6: I have to make a small backstory/occupation for the ponies I redesign and how they would fit into the world of Equestria proper. Now with those rules in mind (sorry for the long post I thought this was necessary) please, enjoy my work!
