He knocked on the wall by the curtain door, announcing his arrival at Bucky's hut. "You awake, pal?" He smiled but waited to be invited rather than go in. @starshieldrogers

It was definitely early although what was early anymore? When you didn’t sleep much at all anytime could be early. He had managed to fall asleep for a few hours without a nightmare when he heard the knock. “No, I’m not awake. What are those things you told me Stark had? I’m one of those.” He buried his face in the pillow. “Come in anyway.”

"Your meds, love." He brought them to him as well as a glass of water and pressed a kiss to his temple as he sat next to him. "So, Star Wars of Lord of The Rings?" He asked, nodding at the TV with a smile.

"Uh-" He swallowed the handful of pills and downed the water in one go. "Uhm, Lord of the Rings."

(Bucky had loved those books.)

Cam smiled up at Steve. "At least ef I doze off during those I won'ave lost th'plot. Although-" Grinning, he pointed at Steve. "If I sleep through any romantic Aragorn an'Arwen scenes ye'd better wake me."

Winifred often liked to joke that although she had given birth to two sons (her beloved James, her eldest, and her sweet, sweet Matthew, who had been born asleep, and lord she never wanted to see a coffin that small ever again) but that she actually had three. Young Steven Rogers might not have been her son by blood, but he was as good as, and she knew that Sarah would say the same of her James. They were all but joined at the hip, and it never failed to make her smile to see the two of them running about the streets together.

When the door swung open at the usual time, she lifted her head from where she’d been baking, the baby on her hip, and smiled, “Wash your hands, boys, then you can have a cookie. Will you be staying for dinner tonight, Steve?” she called, watching as James all but tossed his schoolbag onto the hook and sprinted to the sink.

“Hey...Hey...It’s okay, Steve,” Audrey said in a hushed tone as she reached over and gently put her hand on top of her husband’s.  “You were injured very badly in battle –– you came down on your head pretty hard and were knocked out...”  

Seeing Steve like that made her heart sink.  Not only was he all bruised and banged up, he had also lost seemed to have a case of memory loss.  But she was trying to stay strong –– she need to for his sake.  “Bruce is going to run a few scans on you now that you’re awake.  It’ll help determine just how much damage there is.”

He always seemed to bounce back pretty quickly because of the super soldier serum, but she didn’t know how that would help with amnesia.  If it would help at all.

A faint smile came to her lips as her eyes glanced down at the skinny gold bands on their fingers and then back to his face. “What’s the last thing you can remember?” She should be happy that he remembered her name even if he couldn’t remember that they were husband and wife.  That was something at least.

His glare was probably more than enough of an answer. Or at least, it had better be, because he shouldn’t need to tell Steve that he’d been reckless and nearly gotten himself killed. A common theme, which left him plucking shrapnel out of his arm and trying to staunch the bleeding. Steve was lucky he wasn’t a normal man, but that didn’t excuse putting himself in danger against a grenade.

“Worse. But you’ll live.” He gritted his teeth as he tied a tourniquet around his shoulder. “You can’t keep doing this.”

“Let me think. Is celebrating being alive and having friends to enjoy life a special occasion? If yes then it is. One is with peaches, one with forest fruit, one is a meat pie. There is this fancy place right around the corner and it smelt nice.” He gently placed the pies on the kitchen counter.

“You know what? Initially I was going to share it with Stark and that Bucky friend of yours but I don’t think we’re on the same level of friendship yet. After all, we both are not the stealing types and we do think about other people.”
