Those words, the words he had been praying to hear for months now, now only hurt him. Slowly, he turned so that he was facing the older man again, blue cobalt eyes connecting with those eerily familiar iris’s. His lips pulled into a tight line, feet shifting underneath him as he let out a long labored breath. “Bucky, you can’t just say that and expect everything to magically get better.. that’s not how this works

He knew that, god did he know that but he couldn't just let Steve walk away. That constricting feeling was choking him out from inside his own goddamn chest at the idea of letting him leave. 

"I know, I know Steve I do. But please," the tone of his voice was edged with desperation. He was trying. He really was. He just couldn't get them to come back and he knew that the blonde was starting to give up. He could feel it with every attempt to rekindle whatever relationship they used to have.

Steve was torn. He wanted to stay and help Bucky no matter how hard things got or how bad it looked for them, but a part of him knew that the other was right. People needed him, needed Captain..

"Listen to me Bucky, the world might need Captain America.. but i need you to make it out alive. And if that’s not possible, then we go down together."

“I’m gonna make it out alive.” There’s a conviction to his voice that he didn’t even know he had in it. “I promise. But you gotta go. With you on the move outta here it’s gonna be easier t’take them down. So Steve go.”

It could help. They might get distracted by Cap fleeing.

But he wasn’t going to make it. He was never good at keeping promises.

A hiss escaped Steve’s lips as he felt the others warm tongue sliding across his chilled skin, a tingle running down his spine as he arched his back up ever so slightly. “Damn it Bucky..” It was more of a pleasured groan than it was an actual statement of disapproval, Steve’s teeth clamping together as he looked down at him. “I swear you’re going to drive me insane.”

He hummed against Steve’s skin, unable to stop himself from grinning wide. He trailed the melting ice over his hip bones as slowly as he possibly could. He’d need to get another soon. “Maybe that’s the goal Cap. Mmm ya ever think about that?”

With a roll of his eyes he picked up the jeans and sighed. “You have got to be the most stubborn man I’ve ever had the misfortune of knowing.” He was smiling none the less, and as he went to drop the towel he turned his back so that the only view Bucky got of him was from the back. The jeans slowly working their way up his legs.

“Oh c’mon there Cap. Ya love knowing me. You can’t deny that at all.” He mused, grin wide on his face as he watched. He let out a low whistle as he watched the man, gaze travelling down his back and over his ass with no shame. “God bless America.”

Steve bit down on his lower lip, sucking it into his mouth for a moment before releasing it and shifting. He had to physically restrain himself from reaching out to touch the man in front of him, the desire that pooled in his stomach becoming increasingly harder to ignore. Bucky knew very well how badly Steve wanted him, which was exactly why he didn’t have him yet. It was going to be a long day.

"We can start whenever you’d like.." His tone was low, gaze flicking up to lock with Buckys as he gave him a heated look, legs shifting a little further apart from each other.

How long would it take Steve to break out of this role he wondered. God he was ready to test it. Cocking his head to the side he quirked a brow. Just looking at him was enough to get heat curling in his gut.

“Why don’t come a little closer.” He mused with a purr, lifting a hand to motion him closer with a crook of his finger. “But of course. No touching.” Steve was going to regret this choice soon.

But god he wasn’t.

Steve watched the gun life to aim at him, point blank, inches away. He heart started to bound against his chest as he watched it before letting his gaze flick up to meet Bucky’s gaze. “I’m not — i’m so sorry for this.” Shooting his hand out, he grabbed the barrel of the gun and yanked, pulling it from his grip. Tossing the gun to the side he threw his foot out to connect with Bucky’s stomach. He needed to subdue Bucky, but not kill him. He refused to do any fatal damage to the other. 

He didn’t think that Steve was going to act, that the man was going to let him shoot him and god he didn’t want that. He couldn’t stop his body. Couldn’t stop the motions he was going through. The relief that jolted through him as Steve moved, grabbing the gun and slamming his foot into him. Grunting, his body hunched forward. Pain shot through him but his body continued forward. Shoulder re-calibrating, he swung at Steve as he straightened up. He just wished he had a failsafe to stop.
