it was much too late for this. and way too hot. kennedy stood outside on her balcony, head in her hands, out of breath. she hated when they fought, and she had to get outside for a moment. but the fresh air she thought she’d get was hot and thick and didn’t refresh her at all or give her much room to breathe. she could hear the door opening behind her and she balled up tighter on the wicker chair she’d collapsed herself into.

she felt absolutely fucking ridiculous. standing in the hall so early in the morning in her robe and nightgown, knocking on her neighbor's door. she didn’t have to be up for another three hours, but their alarm was going off on the other side of her wall and it was so, damn, loud. it had been going for at least five minutes.
