The Road to One Million Introduction: Act 2

I’ve decided that, despite being a ridiculously long ways away, it’s still easier to refer to “The Story” by what I’ve decide to call it’s real name for now, although this could change at some point down the road. 

The Story will be called Avengers: Chaos Games.

It is only by sheer coincidence that this is nearly the title of the fourth Avengers movie, because I’ve had this idea since around July 2018, way before the fourth movie was announced, and even then, for a while it was called Avengers: Annihilation, as several embarrassing fan videos “proved”. However, because it is so similar, and yet different, from the movie’s title, I like it even more, so it is unlikely it’ll change, although possible if one of you suggests a truly fantastic idea.

Here are a few author’s notes as of now as to some of the broad strokes of what I’ll allow myself to do:

Real people are completely fair game.

I can only pull characters from stories at story points that were published, or later proven to have occurred, before April 27th, 2018, the release date of Avengers: Infinity War. This means that if something significant happens in the home universe, but was published in 2019 and does not canonically take place before things that do happen before April 27th, 2018, it has not happened yet, with the exceptions of Aquaman and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

If someone died in a flash of light, or left the screen, and if then proclaimed to have died, but we never see the body, they might be returning in Chaos Games. MIGHT.

The Road to One Million Introduction: Act 0

Imagine you are me. You did fairly well last time when you attempted NaNoWriMo, although it was a year and a half ago by now, as the latest November you were adjusting to the life of college. However, somehow, some sideways thought comes through your head: “I didn’t do as well as I’d hoped in the previous NaNoWriMo, and I think I’ll take a shot at it this year. Let’s see, I got to 81% of my goal, so I’ll need a larger goal to actually complete a full NaNo. Let’s say I aim for double, that’s a million words, right? Right. No problem.”

Here is the problem: two NaNos are technically only 100,000 words.

This was a problem @creepygodhunter was quick to point out, and immediately backed it up with my two most angering words in English: “That’s impossible.” As soon as you say those words to me with no intention of me actually doing it, I will immediately try my absolute hardest. Now, it’s not quite possible for me to do it this year, because between school and healthy habits like, oh, sleeping and eating, it literally cannot be done. I did the math.

Next year, though, is totally plausible. I can probably withstand it, possibly pulling two all-nighters at the end if need be.

Now, a million words is no small task, and I’m fully aware of this. It is roughly the length books one through seven of the Harry Potter series So I needed a suitably expansive, grand idea to go with it. Thankfully, my brain has had this particular idea on the backburner for some time now. The basic premise is: what if Thanos did not snap people out of the universe, but rather into it, and had them fight to see whether they truly believed they could do good and deserved to live? Now, as I don’t consume much anime or manga, most of those will sadly be left out in hopes I do not misrepresent them, but many many other franchises will be included.

It’s going to be a hell of a ride.

Hi again. Unfortunately, I have come to a realization about just how much schoolwork is expected of me during NaNoWriMo. It might be possible for me to still do a normal NaNo, but definitely not the million words I was planning, because I’d have to type at around a hundred word per minute every minute in order to stay sleep-healthy and get good grades. So, that’s on hold until 2020. For now, I might do a more normal-sized NaNo. I don’t know yet.
