My house in Geneva
The home is what I felt first in Geneva. I was first picked up by Wana, my soon-to-be roommate from the airport. Immediately, I felt how kind people are to strangers leaving abroad. Encik Johan from the embassy replied to one of my random emails to the Malaysian Mission in Geneva and offered me a place to stay on such short notice. The apartment is lovely and it is very near the UN offices. I am very grateful.
Despite having a nice place to stay, I came here thinking it will be temporary and so I kept searching on other places to rent. And low and behold I met another friendly and lively lady with her teenage daughter looking for UN interns to rent a room at her place. She is a Peruvian, vivacious in character and spices she used in her food. Love that. We became instant friends.
I know the road ahead will not be all pink and wonderful but I hope this journey ends as homely and lovely as it began.
