So, a fun (sarcasm) thing about food stamps in my state is that there's a job hour requirement you have to meet
Previously this requirement was waived for me, because I am disabled and cannot work
However
Now
I am a student
Apparently
Students cannot have that waived for disability reasons.
I asked, directly, in person, to make sure this wasn't a mistake
The person I waited 4 hours to speak to (who was very nice, genuinely) explained that students must either be full time students or also meet the work hour requirement in addition to taking classes
I asked "so if I quit school I'd be able to get food stamps again then?"
And the answer was yes.
There are no words that can describe my anger in the entire system
My options are either to quit school which is my only opportunity to get out of this position, do school full time which is completely impossible for me, or meet the hour requirement in addition to school which I was already unable to do
And it's not just the food stamps on the line here, because food stamps is required for like half the programs I'm on right now for financial aid in different things.
Sick. Of. This.a
