The thing I have noticed from living in both is that depending on where norcal people live, they might agree that SoCal is fine, but you will never find a socal person who would be like “oh yeah norcal’s where it’s at” unless they’re specifically talking about tahoe or the bay area
okay okay funny story about north cali and south cali rivalries when i found out that south california is also called socal i was immediately like SO I CAN CALL NORTH CALIFORNIA NOCAL NOW?? because i wanted them to be not california and my dad was like "actually it's norcal" and i had a mini tantrum in the car- -🍵

When we really get territorial is when we look at maps and see how the Midwest is drawn. I wouldn’t cal Indiana or Ohio Midwest. They’re like Mideast. Illinois is on thin ice. I think I only count it because I grew up right across the river. Like you could drive 5 minutes and see Illinois. I have seen maps that don’t include Missouri as Midwest. Those baffle me-Patroc.

AHSKDHSKSHS well it sort of depends on what you’re looking for I guess... they have very different vibes. In socal i live in a tiny apartment with way too many people in a city. Today in norcal my neighbor didn’t want to drive over to get her mail because it would be too much work so she rode her horse to pick it up. Different energy lol! I have parts of both I like and dislike but I do think I’d probably say I like socal better but mainly because my friends are there lol!
