Reminder to vote in your state's primary if you actually care which candidate gets the party's nomination.

If this is your first time voting in a primary, great! It was my first time too!

It's happening, it's important, and no matter how much you believe one candidate is clearly better than the other, if they get lots of public support online, but not enough people show up to vote for them in the primaries, then the party is going to go with the other candidate, simple as that. So please vote in your state's primary.

Hey, all the folks sharing the videos of Parkland, of Emma Gonzalez, the memes of 'millenials supporting Gen Z'. I'm right there with you. But we need to do more that sit back and say "Go kids!"

These high schoolers are asking the adults to take a stand, and guess what? We're part of that demographic. As much as we often don’t feel like it. 

We can do something that a lot of these kids can't: we can vote. 

STATE ELECTIONS ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS FEDERAL ONES, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO GUN CONTROL LAWS.

Remember to vote for your state and county representatives and leaders on August 2nd. If you’re not sure who’s running or what’s at stake, check out Vote411.org to get a personalized rundown of the candidates and a little checklist to keep with you. 

It’s very important at a local level to really know who you’re voting for, especially if you’re not committed to voting straight-ticket. Local races aren’t quite the same as national races, where candidates are often picked for their ability to hew to party lines. Not all candidates have the same level of expertise and experience, and some candidates will have great ideas and stances that will surprise you. 

Don’t forget the bills and millages that are on the ballot! There’s an important zoo millage, and if you want the penguins and polar bears and chimpanzees that live in the Detroit Zoo to be happy and thrive, you should vote for it. It won’t take very much from your taxes and it’s really worth it.

Hey Florida Voters

There is a primary on August 30th. It’s the Primary for the US Senate seat, the US representatives, the State senate and house, the local judges. I’m sure you noticed that the only thing we voted for in March was the presidential candidate. This was why. We have a second primary for everything else. And this primary is just as important as the presidential primary was so don’t forget to vote next month.
