Out of all the heated rivalry analysis I’ve seen I’ve never seen someone mention that after the all star game Shane no longer drafts and deletes texts. He says what he intends to say the first time and stops editing and second guessing himself and it’s one of my favorite details showing that their dynamic has changed and no one talks about it

the crazy thing is that from the very start shane’s draw to ilya has him doing things that are otherwise wildly out of character. going out of his way to introduce himself to a new person, attempting to make small talk, getting into a fight, pda on the ice, getting distracted from hockey. it’s all right there from the very first moment we meet these characters. a love so monumental so life altering and he didn’t even know it yet.
