I don’t think I’ve ever told the story of THE CINNAMON INCIDENT

So middle school me was at a (statewide?) Christian youth gathering, because I’m from a small town and my parents are church members. Tons of youth, many of whom were atheist and forced to be there; I’m now some kind of omnist.

Anyway, the conference hall was set out like a church and they started serving communion. Now I love me some bread n grape juice, but for SOME GODAWEFUL reason they were also giving people cinnamon oil crosses on everyone’s foreheads. Cause you know, Christian white people nonsense. Thing is I REALLY LOATHE CINNAMON, AND THE WHOLE FRIGGIN CONFERENCE ROOM REEKED OF IT.

Naturally I duck out and hide in the bathroom, the best I could get away from the source of my nostrils’ anger. Not even like 10min later, A BUNCH of kids start flooding into the restroom. Everyone crowded the sinks and were feverishly washing their foreheads, yelling stuff like ‘it burns!’ and ‘soap helps!’ Turns out, they had bought the wrong kind of cinnamon oil, or cinnamon essence, something to that effect. The best part though, with out a doubt, was that most all of the other kids had a RED CROSS BURNED on their foreheads for like the rest of the day. 😭

Summary: if you’re gonna put cinnamon oil crosses on kids’ foreheads, MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT STUFF
