Also as a pianist, the accompaniment and soloist depend on each other. The accompaniment sounds empty without the soloist. The soloist sounds incomplete without its accompaniment. It's like singing a song without the instrumental or playing an instrumental without the lyrics. The accompaniment and soloist will always look at the other for cues. In fact, if you've ever been to a concert with a singer and the piano accompaniment or really any instrument + piano accompaniment because it's rather common, they breathe together, they communicate with each other through looks, and they quite literally always have to be on the same page. I see the scenario thats happening in the print as no different.
