it's like his heart froze over. because he knew it was true. the two beings had certainly killed him, over and over again even just in one world's iteration. he dies all the time, and maybe that should bother him, but death is just another part of life in hell, really. and that should be true in alastor's case, too, but somehow he can't bring himself to say another harsh word.

if they're so willing to destroy what they create, he needs to be more careful. his energy is sapped all at once, and suddenly he is quite small.

Teddy Bear by Melanie Martinez has me thinking about some kind of plot point/ending where Vox retaliates against Alastor unconsciously, without even getting his memories back.

Curious about your thoughts (on both the song and the idea).

Ooo, that's interesting! I always conceptualized the Other Ending (the one where Vox regains all his memories and goes on a murder-suicide quest against Alastor and the hotel crew) as happening very abruptly, but it'd be neat if it was a more gradual thing.

Vox's behavior slowly starts to change, becoming both more coherent and more unnerving. No one quite knows what's going on; Alastor tries to write it off at first, but by the time he decides he needs to take action, it's too late. Vox makes an attempt on his life and flees the hotel when it inevitably fails. Al tries to call him back through their private frequency, but he's not responding. Vox could've either just regained full awareness of what's going on or is acting on pure instinct– whichever makes for the best drama.

Oh, my. What in the heavens happened here? Her dear little contract, arguably her favorite, was suddenly missing that darling face she'd grown so very fond of! This wasn't her own doing, certainly.
