I honestly don't mind staying a little later to wait for my relief. Sometimes you run a little late. And if you have a register, you need to wait for your relief to count their drawer and confirm it has the right amount of money in it.
That's fine. Staying ten minutes after my scheduled shift doesn't bother me.
But when you're half an hour late, I'm going to be pissed at you. I expected to be out of here sooner, and I have things I want to do as well.
The worst part is back drive. Everyone mostly forgets about you unless they need you to do something while you're already doing something, like taking orders, payment, or trying to catch up on dishes.
But when you need a break? When you need to leave? Nope, you have to badger the managers to get them on that. I've been in back drive way too often when I've gotten to four hours + without a ten, when they've literally sent other people home early who could have covered me for a ten already, then tell me "you're just going to have to wait."
