A Chennai couple booked a budget hotel. And then this happened..
The following testimonial is reproduced with prior agreement from our guest
WE LOVED IT. It's everything a couple could ever ask for. The whole simplistic booking procedure, the ease of check in was just really great.
But this is not how it started
My first time was with StayUncle but my second time I stayed in an Oyo (I was on a budget) in Chennai. I live in Bangalore and my girlfriend's from Chennai!
Yupp. I had the "relationship mode" on when I booked my room. I was expecting a "StayUncle" from them but I was very disappointed. I checked in, and then after some time my girlfriend arrived at the hotel.
She wasn't staying with me for the night. We had plans to go out for dinner and then she'd go back home and I'd go to my hotel. When she reached there, she called me and I came down to bring her me with me and all.
Everything smooth, right? Wrong.
Not after about 10 minutes when this guy from the reception came rushing down to our room, banging the door like crazy. It scared her and had me running to the door. And when I opened it, the first thing he did was give my girlfriend "that" look.
I could've punched his face if it wasn't for her. He continued to open his mouth and I was shocked to hear his words "She cannot stay. No unmarried couples here. Police ka panga hota hai."
I made him understand how I was particular about the whole "couple friendly" thing with Oyo. He didn't get a bit of it. Illiterate bastard. I had a hard time brushing him off the door. When he left, he left both of us feeling EXTREMELY uncomfortable.
I talked to the Oyo Customer Care but they didn't really help. Asked what the hell this was and they were like "Talk to the property owner!". This left us in a really bad mood and we just left the room to go out to the beach.
It was there that I decided to go for StayUncle. I had read about it on the internet and decided to give you guys a try. The next day, we went down to the Hotel Pearl International and were EXTREMELY IMPRESSED.
Do I even need to say how professional and comfortable it was? You guys are doing a REALLY REALLY great job. Hats off and keep doing this.
Couples come to StayUncle because.. No questions asked
During a recent interview of StayUncle with a research company we were asked this:
What all questions do you ask your couples before they book with you?
Questions like that sometimes make us frown. Especially me when I see
that the question is not neutral in and impartial in it's own context.
Now why the hell would we need to ask our couples any question?
What couples want from us is pretty clear and straightforward. They want a place where the could spend some time alone.
That's it.
In there any need for more loolapaloooza?
We send rockets in space just so that we keep sparing ourselves with other nations but when it comes to the actual problems of our people we look on the other side. Hasn't the world laughed upon us enough already?
But what then when homosexual couples want to use your service?
It doesn't make any difference to us. We haven't still made an official stance on this.
But does it mean that we will chase away homosexual couples just because of section 377?
No. There is already a broad movement against this ridiculous normative spreading all over India and we salute that.
For whom the laws are being made? For us. The people. If a law becomes obsolete to our present times it is time that, that law goes away.
All said and done we hope to make one thing clear.
We exist to serve. And service is impartial.
We intend to be that one place on earth were Indian couples can find solace and rest assured that they are being understood and respected.
Was it not done enough done to couples already?
We do not ask questions because they have been living in shame long enough. This country and this society has been shaming our youth long enough.
We do not ask questions. And same goes for our hotel partners too.
If any hotel or any receptionist crosses the line the hotel they won’t dawn on our portal the next morning.
There are already enough questionnaires out there who unfortunately do nothing else productive in their lives and for their societies.
If they consider judgement their form of giving back and and their own fight then this becomes a fight for us too but on the other side of the line.
They have their clowns on their side.
We have the people on our side. The young Indian people.
