     staring sullenly at the adjacent wall, he was ignoring his twin sister because of her transgressions. somehow, she knew exactly what buttons to push to make him fall into a childish state. some would blame it on their twin bond, he preferred to say that she was just infuriating and she knew it too. he spared her a glance but his frown deepened when he was only meant with a teasing grin.

    “ pretty as a picture today aren’t ye? ” leland’s flirting towards clover had always been playful and teasing but today there was more heat behind his gaze. he knew it would seem odd to her but he didn’t care. there was no reason to hold back anymore and he was just doing what he had always done back on the isle, before he ever got a taste of love.

     “ you looked so awesome up there! ” carlos complimented his teacher, having just seen her performance. “ i had no idea you could sing like that. ” he was learning that her creative talent extended far beyond the art room.

      “ did the whole family attend? ” spotting his twin had not exactly been a lucky encounter but the relationships he had with his siblings were all rather sticky. fortunately, they acted like a real family when it counted and anthony cared about them more than he led people to believe.

     “Thank you again for letting me borrow these bits of paint. Seth very much enjoys them.” One of  the cases he was working, he found that the child had an affinity for painting and it did an incredible job at helping him to cope with all that he had been through. “If there’s anything you ever need help with, I would be happy to provide help.”

      “so --- ah, sorry.” the apology sound awkward and unfamiliar on his tongue. leland couldn’t remember the last time he apologized to someone, guilt was a feeling he had only become acquainted with recently. “i know i ‘aven’t been actin’ meself lately. so if i bothered ye er anythin’ --- um yeah, sorry.”

    leland found himself sitting cross legged on the deck, one of his swords resting in his lap as he continuously held it with a grip that was a tad too tight. several crew members had come by to ask why he had been in that position for hours, doing nothing but staring at the sky. he responded with short sentences that turned scathing the more persistent their worry became. “not in the mood fer conversation,” he snapped when he heard another pair of approaching footsteps.
