As the sun peered through the windows, Atherese stirred awake to find herself in the arms of her boyfriend. Her head was laying on his chest and she could hear his heart beat. It was comforting to listen to and she was sure she probably fell asleep to it right after last night’s ‘workout’. The woman refused to move an inch as she felt all too relaxed in his embrace but more so transfixed by how peaceful he looked. It was the complete opposite from how carnal his eyes were earlier on. Trinity had a duty to for fill. One that had been assigned to her at birth. A promise that one day she would come to marry the prince in order to keep the peace treaty alive. For the longest of times, it has been nothing but a promise. An arrangement. She hadn’t thought about it much, at least not until her parents had informed her that the prince’s father had fallen ill.

She felt scared both scared and nervous. Two things that happened to be very much unlike her. But reality was sinking in, and she wasn’t sure how she felt about it. They had arranged to meet in the throne room, for the first time since were kids. She didn’t remember much of him besides the glasses she thought she remembered him wearing. Her hand slid over her dress before she gave herself a one over in the nearby mirror. At least she looked decent. The doors in front of her were opened, and she stepped inside the room filled with people to celebrate the engagement when her name was announced while walking through the thick, wooden doors.

she excuses herself from the bar with a smile, rushing away from her friend's family members as they continue to go on and on about how lovely they all were in high school. memory lane was fun sometimes, but right now, she wasn't truly in the mood to think about how long it had been and everything she hasn't yet achieved. rushing to their side, she hands one of the drinks and swiftly tastes hers, already regretting the overly sweet choice. "these weddings keep getting worse, even the alcohol is bad now" lips fall into a pout, grumpy as ever as she tilts her head to the side. it wasn't that she wasn't happy for their friend, no, but after a few too many weddings from high school friends, verda was slowly growing bitter.
