Urbance is a 26-minutes animated action series for 16+ audience. Written and Directed by Joel Dos Reis Viegas and Sébastien Larroudé. A topic that hits with stunning visuals and blasting tunes; Urbance brings you into a post-modern story world, made of hip-hop vibes and electronic influences. The series is described as a mashup between Tron, Jet Set Radio and The Warriors mixing urban, hip hop and electro influences. Even  Hiroshi Shimizu, animator for Princess Mononoke and Samurai Champloo has taken an interest in it! Check out what he has to say.

"URBANCE" trailer

This spec trailer was directed by Joel Dos Reis Viegas for Steambot Studios in 2013.

We've shared the art from this last year (HERE) and even shown some early motion art from the animation (HERE), and we still think the art and ideas behind this are great.  Check out this concept trailer.

Heres the story:

"In the big city, gender war rises. Sex is prohibited because of a genetic deadly virus. Ruled by hate and anger, boys and girls grow up apart from each other, forming rivals gangs.

Among these lost teenagers, Kenzell and lesya will fight adversity and defy all the rules in order to live their love and restore peace."

Still hoping that this, or at  least a project like this, happens. This style of art worked well in Tron: Uprising and it seems well suited for stories about underground anything.
