Okay but actually--I have a major ship with Sona/Swain that clearly did not start off innocently as ‘boy meets girl’ it’s literally a war criminal demon man who’s intrigued by her magical artifact and happens to be a fan of her music, and a woman who is clever enough to be wary of his ways. There was plenty of probing into the other’s intentions, because they both realized how easily they could be exploited by the other for political reasons; Jericho as Trifarix to Noxus and Sona as a council member to Demacia. They evolved and had growth and their relationship isn’t solely because ‘dark brooding man and angelic girl cute :)’ no this woman is embracing her power through blood sweat and tears and this man is elevating her and offering support from the sidelines and even putting her through some heavy shit physically and emotionally because he believes in her and see the potential she can become?? And that’s...not even touching my ship with Lunar’s Kayn in Odyssey which-- -taps microphone-
Is a toxic and complex relationship that started off with animosity and angst and the possibility of killing the other.
Like, Kayn is...possessive to the extreme, obsessed with the Ora Gate and in turn Sona’s part in that, and views her as property and nothing more. Sona started off as naïve in that verse and hopeful, and he has shattered that light inside her on more than one occasion. He’s physically hurt her, has been verbal with her, and never once had she deserved the treatment. AND YET-- They have grown. They have become different people than what they are now. In the beginning, Kayn wanted nothing to do with Sona other than have her open the gate--he even tried to resist the kiss she offered him while she removed a bullet from his shoulder. Now, they’re bonded, quietly pining for the other, and harboring feelings that have been forged through life and death experiences, of fighting each other, and saving each other. Kayn is softer with her, and sees her more as a woman than he used to and has been impacted by her presence. Likewise, Sona has been touched by Kayn, and now she has gotten some confidence, a backbone, and has started discovering what it means to be selfish--what it means to want to live. That’s due to the good AND the bad times they’ve weathered together. I don’t know what kinda milk toast shit you’re peddling but keep it far away from me kthx-- :^) I like my ships spicy
