A rude what? || James & Stefan
Stefan let out an exasperated sigh as he quickly muttered a few German words under his breath, and he nodded at whatever was being told to him from the other side of the phone. “Ja, ja okay” were his final words before hanging up the phone. “Sorry about that” he apologized, though not giving any further explanation as to who had interrupted with the phone call. “I swear it’s going on silent now” he added as he slid the ringer all the way down to off. “Next round’s on me for being such a rude twat”
James frowned as the other spoke in German. He couldn’t really make out what the call was about but it did give him a free drink so who was he to complain. “A busy man so it seems?” He was quite curious to what this guy was doing, he certainly wasn’t someone he’d seen before.
“No worries, it’s not too uncommon to get a call now and then.” Though he tended to shut his off so no one could bother him. After hours and drunk, he wouldn’t be much of a help, to begin with.
“You could say that” Stefan sighed, letting it turned slightly into a laugh as he shook his head a little. He wasn’t even sure why he’d answered the call. He knew the way most conversations with his father went. They’d all been the same since he’d come back to town, all except for one which had been Mr. Konig calling to inform Stefan of his grandmother’s passing.
“Well, hopefully that’s ended for the night” he relaxed his face into a smile. “About that drink then?”
“A man who knows business is a man I can appreciate.” Lately, James had been thinking to expend Neverland and add in some additional theme rooms. He also planned to add a wedding suite, but find it hard to get his idea onto paper and clear enough to the builders of what he expected of them.
“Who knows.” A businessman never gets off the clock, James had learned as much by experience alone. “A whiskey for me, I like something strong. On the rocks.”
“You’d probably appreciate my father then” for some of the faults the man had, it couldn’t be denied he was a good business man. It often confused Stefan why his family had stayed there, when there were other, bigger cities for them to live in that the family business had touched. “Make that two” he held up two fingers to the bartender.
“My father always says you judge a man you’re doing business with by how he takes his whiskey. Oddly enough I think he’s left me to figure out on my own just how they’re to be judged”
“I’m a man of various tastes.” James laughed. “But it’s just that I come across a lot of business discussions due to the work I’m in.” He explained. “I think it’s normal when you are in a manager position, it involves a lot of talking, making arrangements. You know business stuff.” He smiled when Stefan decided to join him on the drink.
“Oh, never heard of that one. And what does mine tell about me?” He nodded. “I think a lot of people in the business world aren’t what you’d think in the first impression.”
