There had never been a day that Cais hadn’t known that one day she would be called into her father’s office to be told who she would marry, and there wouldn’t be a discussion over it. She would be told who it was and that would be the end of the conversation. Since she was old enough to actually look into other royals though she had begun researching every possible match that her father could potentially decide was best for her. The princess hadn’t been a stranger to who Stefan was when her father had finally sat her down, but she couldn’t imagine what it would be like for the two of them together. She wanted to be the best partner for him though which meant that she had to put herself out there for him in order to get to know her.
It was a strange sensation for her to not be hiding away behind her books but rather to be outside waiting for her betrothed, a word that still felt so strange coming from herself. Alas though there she was sitting with a book in her lap that she swore would be tucked away before Stefan made his appearance. It was her crutch, it was how she felt the safest. The problem was though that she had become some wrapped up in the novel that she hadn’t noticed when she was no longer alone.
