Cais had no idea what to make of the woman, but she was completely amused by the woman with a warm smile as she shook her head, “I believe you!” She promised quickly, “I appreciate your honesty though it does make it easier. Now I know exactly who to come to when I need an opinion.” Or so she hoped a friendship would come of it.

“Ah, you’ve found the real party,” Mimi raised a half-empty bottle of wine in greeting as they approached, and gestured around the service parking lot with the lit end of her cigarette. She’d snuck out the fire exit for a smoke and a moment alone, but maybe she’d been gone more than a moment –the bottle had been full when she’d snagged it. She patted a spot next to her on the low wall, inviting them to sit down. “Enjoying yourself?”

Cais often found herself feeling overwhelmed whenever it came to being tossed together with everyone else in a social setting. She had hoped that Stefan would have been her saving grace but she had lost sight of him early on leaving her to fend for herself. She hadn’t meant to stumble upon the woman while looking for fresh air but she couldn’t turn away now. “I’d like to say I am,” She admitted, “It just tends to be a lot.”

“I feel like that one light bulb on the Christmas tree that’s obnoxiously way brighter than the other bulbs that gets on everybody’s nerves,” Evan said as she crossed her arms and looked down at her dress again, “I mean, I love the dress, but like… I feel like I stand out. And, like, why did I choose the sleeveless ones out of all the dresses I could have chosen? I’m not a princess, I shouldn’t… stick out so much.”

Cais didn’t think the woman stuck out more than anyone else at the party. It was actually far more normal to go all out than to lean on the side of caution when it came to fashion anymore. Attempting to be comforting the princess shook her head with a tender smile, “You look radiant. Princess or not everyone should feel free to wear what makes them feel beautiful. Besides take it from me you’ll fit right in.”

“At least with Stefan it is. I like to think Gio likes me, but who even knows if he does,” She admitted unsure of how to read him. He was still a mystery to her. He wanted to protect her from his brother, but maybe it was his way of saying he didn’t want her to be a part of his family. “I don’t think there’s any fear that Stefan and I will despise each other though. At the very least I think that we will always be friends, and hopefully it will lead to more,” The princess explained as she unwound the scarf from around her neck thankful for a reason to stay in, “I didn’t have enough faith in the world to trust they would have decent tea, it was my one condition in coming.”

“don’t be, just be swift,” edda told her as she pulled the girl by the arm with her. just a few steps further down the corridor there was a nice little alcove: the perfect place to check the route to freedom. “up for an adventure?”

Cais hadn’t known what to say as she was being drug along with the red head. Who was to say she was someone to be trusted? But even with a tiny moment that she could have escaped she found herself smiling happily, “I’d love an adventure,” she admitted quickly.

When in Rome: or, Henryk supposed as he glanced around the outdoor tea garden, when in Oslo. It was a quaint business idea, he supposed; though it was freezing out, the tea garden was surrounded by shimmering glass, a lush, green utopia encased in a temperature-enclosed greenhouse. Henryk had asked Cais Lieu, the crown princess of Vietnam, to meet him here for a bit of tea, a light snack, and some polite political commentary. Now that he was king, Henryk was testing the waters and seeking out his options as a political leader. 

Vietnam, as he well knew, were currently allied as members of Confluence, the powerhouse that held Russia. Henryk was tempted to see how strong Vietnam’s relations were with Russia and what Princess Cais thought of the turbulent, vulnerable state their world was at the current moment.

But for now, he thought as he ushered over a waiter and ordered a pot of black cherry tea and an array of pastries: food.

Cais had not been expecting an invitation to tea with anyone much less one of the kings that found themselves stuck along with the rest of them in Norway. She couldn’t find it in herself to reject the invitation even knowing that there was a chance that she would be a little more picky when it came to tea, but the conversation had to be good. She was under no belief that it was going to be anything but political topics, but it was something that she actually looked forward to. Her own staff tended to shy away from including her in the conversations that would one day affect her. Slowly she was taking the control herself and starting the conversations she knew she would need to have someday. 

As the world seemed more determined to set itself on fire the more determined that the princess wanted to find a peaceful resolution. She had to believe that there was a way to end everything from escalating any farther than it had already and she supposed it started with her trying to form her own alliances while she was near the other leaders of the world.

She stepped into the tea garden noticing the thought that had gone into the meeting. She was grateful for even the tiny details. “Thank you for the invitation,” Cais’ voice was light as she tipped into a tiny curtsy.

“ice cream will do, actually, it’s the trick that always works with this little guy.” well not just about any ice cream but she was still joking so there was no need to be specific. “it will, we just don’t know when.” all wars came to an end, the problem would always lay on how long it would take until it actually ended. “so you have a small one?”

“Really? I love ice cream, I wouldn’t mind an ice cream date but I’m pretty picky about mine,” she admitted but it was no surprise to anyone that knew her that she was picky. She knew that she had a point, it would eventually end and they’d live in a world again where they were walking around waiting for something to happen. “I do. it’s just me and my parents now.”

“you’re not supposed to be standing there,” edda told the other. a deep frown of annoyance set on her face. “you’re so tiny, i didn’t even notice you.” she was half joking but there was a kernel of truth in her words. the dim lighting of the hallway matched with her poor ability to pay attention to her surroundings had probably set her up for failure from the start. “can you move? i need to slip past the guards asap.”

Cais had stopped on her way down to the lobby to stare out the window at the winter wonderland outside. She hadn’t realized that someone was near by until she heard the voice snap towards her causing her to look over. “Oh I-,” The woman quickly stammered unsure of what to say, “I’m sorry?”

“could take a little more than that.” she replied jokingly and it was clear on her voice but she at least tried to look like she was talking seriously. not that barbie was a good actor, god knew she was far from that. “that would be great one day when we’re not trapped here. thank you.” the beauty of being hiding is not having the freedom to go wherever you wanted. really the best thing about it. “no need to stress over anything in this family. if something wrong’s done there’s probably gonna be someone doing something worse soon that will cover that up.”

“I mean I am willing to try more,” She offered even if she knew the woman was giving her a teasing time. “I’m hoping someday that things will get better,” Cais knew that it was for the best that they were all tucked away, but could they really live in danger forever? “I’m glad it’ll be easy to hide away in this family at the very least.”

Cais: You absolutely did not. Maybe you need to double check a mirror again.

daniel’s little frown at her was easy to understand: he wanted permission. while he wasn’t obsessed with robots which child at his age would turn down the opportunity to watch some being made? she just nodded positively at him, if the girl could make it happen then she could find a way. “well, thank you.” soon as the words left her mouth the little boy repeated them. the most common words in english at least he was able to say. “not exactly, we have other cousins engaged as well. my sister included. no biggie.”

“Of course. I may be bribing your love,” Cais meant to as a joke as she offered them up a wide smile, “I’m sure that your opinions mean a lot to Stefan, and I’d like to make a good impression with you all. Besides it’s not a problem to set up the chance,” she promised feeling the relief that at least she wouldn’t be the only new person. “And here I was stressing for nothing at the very least.”

“I appreciate that,” Vincent grinned–the girl had gotten a pretty quick, accurate reading on it. “So, so many. My father was, and likely still is, an absolute strumpet. We’re half-siblings through him, so every couple years I get a new sibling like clockwork,” He shared, laughing at her momentary worry. “No, we were a joke long before you said anything. Appreciate the concern, though. What about your family?” He asked nonchalantly, not wanting to push if her situation was complicated. Family tended to be messy. “I’m all about balance. Wish I had more of it, metaphorically and physically because I was born with two left feet,” He couldn’t help but look at her sympathetically; he had adjusted to the idea of an arranged marriage remarkably well but that’s because his ambition overpowered any desire he had had for a love story. He couldn’t help but chuckle, “Can I ask who your fiance is? Or is it still undisclosed? I feel the intense need to give him a lecture about treating you right, but I’m sure your father beat me to it.”

Cais never knew if her father had anyone besides her mother, but she knew it was a possibility as it was with anyone. She couldn’t imagine him being as upfront about having as many lovers though, after all when the children become public that only proved his infidelity. She was glad that Vincent was real though, he seemed like someone she would want to know. “Are you close with any of your siblings though?” She asked curiously. “My family? We’re probably about as boring as you can imagine. At least to my knowledge, but I could be in the dark about it all,” She hoped though that she wouldn’t ever find out. She liked the way that things were. “Balance is such an important thing to have, and yet I don’t seem to understand how to balance my own life,” she raised her eyebrows as she leaned over dramatically to look at his feet with a straight face she looked up at him, “I don’t know it looks like you have a left and right foot to me,” she teased in amusement before shrugging her shoulders, “Do you know Stefan? I’m not sure that my dad had a talk with him but he’s been nothing but wonderful to me.”

stefan: how has your day been, love?

Cais: Yeah if that's what you want.

Cais: It's been a fairly boring day. You see I have this really hot guy in my life that's going through a lot, but there's not much I can do for him when all I want is to take all his pain and protect him from it.

stefan: i'm starting to tell my family, about it.. all.

Cais: Are you okay? Do you want me to come over and be by your side?

Cais: I can bring some tea or something.
